Can ebay link 2 accounts by the telephone used to verify?
 

Ok, I noticed ebay is asking for a phone number to call and verify alot lately. What happens before listing an item or updating info is ebay asks for a phone number and I type in a new one, they call and I enter the pin into the ebay site. After that I go to the my ebay/personal information page and change the phone number back to any old random number.

My question is will ebay link the phone number used to receive the verification pin and has anyone heard of this happening? I've dealt with ebay for a long time and no exactly how to setup and maintain many accounts (10-20) but this new phone verification thing is new to me. Your help and input is greatly appreciated.

dont do that... what are you gonna do when they want to send you the PIN again...

WHat I do is this. They ask to verify my identity so I provide my prepaid cell phone and after the verification I go into the My Ebay section and change the number to a random made up number. If they ask again I will just repeat the steps as many times as needed. The number isnt saved or at least doesnt appear anywhere in my account but Im curious if anyone has dealt with this and had ebay link them because of it.

Like I said, I know alot about ebay but some of these new policies have caught me a bit off guard. Thanks for the input!

umm...why would you need to just change the phone number to a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ one?.....

cant you get the pin via email? it must be because you are clearing cookies,

dont use same number on different ebays, it will link them

yeah email is pretty simple to..but you're clearing cookies is suspicious to them.

I clear cookies because that is a way I used to have accounts linked. CCleaner is a good program to use if you want to clear cookies and prevent ebay from linking you that way.

I wish I could get the pin via email but they want a phone number. I change the number after getting the pin becuase I don't want it permanently attached to the account. I use the number to get the pin and change it back in the hopes it reduces the risk of having ebay link my accounts.

I guess it would be better to buy prepaid phones but I have about 20 ebay accounts right now and that would be a bit pricey.

if you keep clearing cookies, be prepared for more phone verification... something along the lines of
we dont recognize the computer you are on....

if you keep changing the phone number it wont look good

yeah. if you dont have cookies they will want you to verify who you are and such each time..cause you dont have the cookie history to do that for you.

I think you dont use same number.2 acc ebay will can limit.

Stop clearing your cookies, and utilize user-accounts on your PC instead. Read eBay Stealth for more information on this.

The way you're doing things.. you're going to slip up one day and link all your accounts. Plus you're just making more work for yourself when you don't have to.

I am confused about having 2 accounts in separated user accounts. How do they work? I have 2 user accounts but they both have the same IP address. If one is restricted, won't the other one have the same problem?

Anyone? Please let me know.

you need to not only switch user accounts but also switch ip address between accounts, each account must have unique info in every respect.

just make a new telephone number... its not hard
