Prevent New Account From Being Suspended

I've bought one of our customer's ebay account. It has 500+ feedback and was created in 1999. We just want a fresh start with ebay and don't want to ever be suspended again.

We need to change all of the information but I have a few main concerns.

1. A lot of our customers pickup items locally or mail in checks. We recently got the space next door to us, but the address is only 2 digits off. Everything else is the same - what do you guys suggest?

2. A lot of folks send us checks to the name on the account. Is the only solution to create an entirely separate bank account under a different name?

3. We don't want to be suspended again so we're concerned about the pace at which we list things. The current account has never sold anything on ebay, only been buying. We've recreated all of our listings for a different look. We'd like to put up a store right away.

What sort of pace can we start listing items in? Keep in mind our items are relatively high dollar, $300 - $2k.

We all have that dream. But a dream it is ;)

1. New address, different name. Use someone's name in your household that eBay doesn't have on record yet.

2. Yup.

3. Give it a try, but nobody can guarantee you won't ever be suspended again. The sad truth is that you WILL be suspended again sooner or later.

Don't put up items in the thousands of dollars right from the start, that will surely get you killed.

We dont sell anything illegal or against their terms. We had 4 customers who never paid or were refunded leave negative feedbacks on an account that was linked to our main selling account. That resulted in our suspension.

I could have had all of the negative feedbacks withdrawn but because they suspended our account, I cannot. They will not reinstate the account until all feedbacks are removed. I can see why so many people are upset with this

You don't need to sell anything illegal to be suspended from eBay, that's the sad truth. See how many members are here. All of them had their accounts suspended, surely not all of them sold something illegal. I had an account suspended simply because I changed the description 3 times in like 2 hours. Not big changes, but just small edits.

Wow I didn't know changing the description a lot like that could hurt you too. I'm almost sure in retrospect that that must have been my downfall at least once in the past. They will just give you the standard "abusing ebay" cookie cutter message either way, so there was no way for me to really know.

imjustme 01-06-2008 04:36 AM

Yep, that's exactly what you get when changing the description too much.

If you change your account details, name, address, email while using an IP address eBay doesn't know about... eBay has been known to limit accounts because of it. If you can keep certain details the way they are, that would be best.

So it would be best to have the person who currently owns the account change the details from their computer?

Changing info to much in a small amount of time has suspended me in the past. I also have been suspended for logging in and out to many times in a short period of time.

Yeah...1 of my friends gave me her account, as soon as I changed the info on there such as the email address ect...ebay blockd the account, and ask me to fax in the paper work.
