ip address help!!!

hey can anyone help me how to change the dam ip address. i already read up about ways how to change like turning off the modem and turn it on in a few hours but they don't seem to work. my isp didn't give me much help either. are there any free software out there that could change the ip address?

o yeh by the way im using a router

Go into your router's web address, http://192.168.1.1 which is for linksys routers and login...Your default password should be admin.
Click "mac clone" on the middle of the webpage. Pull the cable modem and the router's power for a minute and restart everything including your pc. You should see your ip address changed. You can only preform mac clone once.

are you using cable router or adsl ?

I am on cable....configured this way..cable wire - cable modem - wireless router - 3 desktops via hardwire and 2 laptops via wireless

Use VPN for this purpose. It's better than Proxy.

You can use VPN, it gets you a new ip. but it costs money. and the good thing is the ip sometimes changes too.
