leonid5000 | 04-15-2007 05:52 PM | dose ebay play the role of the bidder? Does eBay ever bid and win a suspicious seller's item, in order to gather more info after the auction ends (such as your real name and address, which I send after auction ends)? I've heard that eBay sometimes bids, but I don't know if it's just a legend. Maybe its just competition. I had a couple of instances where right after an auction would end, and I'd send the buyer payment info (where and to whom to send a check), that I'd get suspended shortly after... and never hear back from that buyer. But other buyers would reply and send payment, and asking why I got suspended. But that one buyer would disappear and I'd never hear from him even once after auction had ended. (Just to clarify: it wasn' the same bidder multiple times. It was a couple of different ones (usually from Europe), on different accounts.) Maybe its just a correlation, and means nothing. Or maybe competition who wins and forward my email to eBay. Or maybe getting suspended for totally other reasons..... But I'm still curious if eBay ever bids with some accounts??
Also, what happens when other ebay members report you, but ebay can't link you directly to the suspended account? Do they just keep a close eye on your new account? Or what other measures do they take to see if you're the same seller or not? |
