What will happen to an existing account?

Does ebay keep track of what credit cards have been on what accounts even when neither is currently suspended? What would happen if one account becomes suspended at some point, but at that time you've removed the old card from one of them and replaced with another? Should you be concerned about card sharing like that, especially at bill time, when they're more likely to hit your account? And does ebay track accounts that aren't suspended? Like if you log into one account, log out and right back into another? Would you need to clear cookies and all that if the accounts aren't blocked or suspended? Or do they just not care at that point and therefore don't try to connect the dots to link accounts?

Hahah, Jack eBay tracks everything. Every IP that has logged into the account within a certain timeframe is logged. Each credit card that has been listed on an account has been logged. If I were you, I would only manage one account at a time to keep your self from having linked accounts.

Aspkin, thanks for answering. I do have another question based on your reply though. Let me see if I can explain. If one account should become suspended but by that time you've already removed your card from file from the other account, should you be pretty safe to plan to use that other account to build your new business from? Or will the fact you originally had the same card on both accounts most likely come back to haunt you later when/if the first account is suspended and that first card is blocked? The reason I ask is I already have a head start with the second account, and would be harder to have to start from just scratch with a whole new account, but would it be a good move based on what you know/have seen? Thanks

Like I said, eBay keeps track every credit card used. For instance if your account is suspended and you try to create a new account with that same card, eBay will give your warning that your card has been suspended and ask you to try another. They just logged your IP address as a suspended user, and any other card you use will become linked and suspended as well.

Though, thinking about this, I'm not sure how long eBay keeps tabs on credit cards, and even if you remove the card, do they really delete it from their system or keep it logged somewhere. If they're anything like Paypal then maybe, but if they're tracking credit card's after an account is suspended, your information is still there.

It's iffy… I give it a 65% chance that you'll be okay and no linking will occur.

Has that one account been suspended? Or are you just worried that may happen?

Aspkin, don't want to jinx it but I haven't noticed problems with it yet. (knock on wood) Just concerned it might happen. Have you ever had any problems arise by paying fees straight from your paypal account? I think you mentioned at some point that as long as they're (ebay and paypal) not linked you won't have any. I just checked and my account isn't linked in paypal thank goodness. Had been wondering about that. Anyway, I don't owe much on this other account, but I'm a bit behind on paying, so I was going to make the payment with what little funds I still have in my paypal account to use those up and set that account straight again, and then think about registering a virtual giftcard account once I check out the options, so I can sell from it safely. Should I be pretty safe doing it that way or do you suggest to pay it all through the virtual card?

Modee, having a paypal card with your information, isn't that playing with fire? Doesn't that make you an easier target for ebay to check you out if they suspect you of anything?

Jack you can do a "one time payment" from the seller tools in your eBay account using the new email you created for eBay/Paypal. You should be okay doing this, I haven't heard of anyone having any linking problems. I personally would use the virtual visa card to pay any fees to be 100% safe.
