Can you post a link to that, DFB?

GreenBean 02-09-2008 10:00 PM

Where a mention id made of a seller doing xyz (etc), is there any chance of also
listing userID or an item number? I like to look......
I see so many listings with the acnts are up & running so I am trying to see how, why etc as users here have said their listings have been suspended..

I created my account last month and have listed and sold 8 items since 2/1/08 with no feedback.

I currently have 11 auctions going on right now.

Not sure if this helps :)

I have 2 accounts that are 9-10 days old. Both have about 40 listings running and I'm adding 10 each today, but all low dollar items, and all auctions starting at $0.99. Mostly 7 day auctions but a couple of 5 day. Sold 6 items in last 2 days and one second chance. Most items will go for around $20.

Yea - Mine are low dollar items and don't expect to sell over $20 for each item. I was starting mine off at .99 but got burned and I didn't make a profit.

I've been starting my auctions anywhere from 1.99 to 12.99.

HI- Seems the new "Abusing" memo, is worded alittle differently..
NOW, it says "you may appeal this suspension by faxing in the form, etc."..it also says . weve done this becasue your actions caused a security concern..
This was recd 2/17/2008.. just FYI.. :)

kfaiz78 02-19-2008 10:11 PM

new paypal account?

When you open new account, do you open new paypal account too
because your paypal account is linked to your old ebay account.
If suspended then ebay will know. Or do you just accept checks/money order?

mantisinc 02-20-2008 04:07 AM

Nope, new paypal account always.

Abuse Policy

Hey, I ran into the same problem with a suspension for Abusing ebay Policy and the Spirit of ebay.
In my case, a user from another country bid on an item and so I cancelled his bid then changed the item buyer requirements to countries i dont ship to as well as fd rating, etc.
It was probably only an hour later that I got blocked.
My rating was 13+fb

My thought is that if you initially set your buyer requirements before the auction starts, or before a bid, you should be ok, but cancelling a bid and then changing the requirements truly appears to be a big red flag, especially if the buyer is a power seller which in this case I think he was.

OMG Its the web beacons.....lol sorry still looking for that thread on the beacons im on page 198 now

Just one question from the original post...

how do you change a logarithm?:p

dollybaby 03-23-2008 10:34 AM

ive had a couple of suspensions for abusing ebay but i hadnt blocked bidders on any of them, i realised on a couple id edited the listings so i dont know if that had anything to do with it, but i hadnt even been into the buyer requirements.

GreenBean 03-24-2008 04:24 AM

donna, it does seem that editing raises a flag.

dollybaby 03-24-2008 02:28 PM

also buying a good few 1p ebooks will get you that msg aswell.

GreenBean 03-24-2008 03:48 PM

Yes. ebay are calling that Feedback Manipulation. Suspending a lot of users for
that.

mantisinc 03-24-2008 03:51 PM

Although, it's harder now that under $1 rule has come in for ebooks.

prouser 04-12-2008 07:21 PM

great post.

didn't know that there are many rules to it.

ebayaintstupid 04-14-2008 02:35 PM

Somebody should change the title from Logarithm...

to algorithm. :)

Bugs me every time I read it. Sorry for being anal.

ebayhateluv 04-14-2008 07:44 PM

HI: Sorry- Thats why I only know how to sell--Def. NOT a Tech person.. :)

ebayaintstupid 04-14-2008 07:52 PM

I understand it was just a blooper...

and I make them all the time. But a Logarithm is so far off from what you meant, it takes away from the value of your message, which was great.

Here is the definition of a logarithm.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logarithm

Do you really want yourself associated with that? :p

Sorry, but if it is correctable, I would correct it. You are only off by a letter or two and the meaning is totally lost.

ebayaintstupid 04-14-2008 08:14 PM

Thank you. :)

ivegotinfo 05-04-2008 09:14 PM

this is a constant uphill battle :)
