Scared because it was Too Easy...

Hoping a few out there will double-check me on this:

1 - using firefox NOT IE for all ebay, paypal & gmail services
2 - opened a gmail account w/⊗⊗⊗⊗ info.
3 - opened a ING Direct savings account w/real info but used new gmail for their email info.
4 - opened a PP account w/real name & address w/new gmail for email & ING Direct for verification...which worked really well & quickly. Now verified on pp.
5 - opened a new ebay account w/⊗⊗⊗⊗ name, address, etc. using gmail for email & new PP acount for seller's fees & transactions.

Posted a few listings using Firefox. Interesting when you disable cookies in Firefox, Ebay rejects you...can't even sign-in.

Hoping the above steps are correct because although it was a bit time-consuming and my Excel sheet is filled w/all these passwords, names, etc., the procedure was fairly easy.

Looks good?

Usernames match but real name is being used for PP not Ebay. Is that what you mean by not matching?

This is a new pp account w/real name. Old pp account although in good standing is not being used because it has been linked to suspended Ebay account.

Yes, I do read the forums. I like the forums here so much that I just subscribed $$ this morning. There is so much info. it is hard to grasp it all. I understand how the two are linked.

I figured that out earlier today...thank-you though for the tip.

Regarding firefox, I believe it is still showing my ip. Just installed proxy switch and getting a bit overwhelmed w/where to find reliable numbers.

Don't use proxy. EBay doesn't like most proxies. And Firefox doesn't hide your IP address, you'll need to change your IP address before registering for a new Paypal / eBay account.

What Modee means is the details of the accounts not matching up. EBay doesn't like it when stuff like this doesn't add up. Which is why it's a good idea to use the same name and address for eBay and Paypal; as well as phone number, banking details and credit card. Everything the same.

You're okay for now, but for next time.

Thanks for subscribing, let me know if you need anything. (PM)

Ditched FireFox...just a creature of habit I guess...more comfortable w/IE. Have 2 trials going w/Hide The IP and Hide My IP...any other suggestions for a program to surf anonomously would be appreciated. I did set-up 2 new accounts w/ebay using both these programs & did change my IP.

A little confused as to matching-up Ebay w/PP. If pp can only see bank info. what is the difference if pp has my real info. or not?

Going to purchase another visa/vanilla card today -- worked really well w/submitting to ebay for seller's fees and intend to set-up a 3rd account.

Isn't ING Direct going to question why I am setting-up a few savings accounts with them? Since they are a bank, all the info. must be the real-thing.

Thanks for your help -- great forum.

Try IP Burger - What is my IP Address? Find Your IP Address! Highly recommended.

Firefox is confirmed to delete cookies. IE has problems, so bear that in mind.
ING will allow up to 6 accounts provided that at least one is a checking account.
While paypal does see your routing & account number, ebay sees your paypal
name: so it will raise a flag because of the link between both.

Now, when you say Ebay sees your paypal name...are you referring to screen name? If referring to name used for account, how can Ebay see your pp name?

I must be missing something...really want to get the concept down so I don't ask zillions of questions regarding the same thing.

GreenBean 03-15-2008 08:06 AM

pppaypal nnname. They like them to match.

TotallyDisgusted 03-15-2008 10:42 AM

OK -- pp name & ebay name do match...one 1 account not an exact but close.

Was thinking about this matching stuff & would it be wise to use INGDirect for PP & Ebay seller's fees? Or...should I just keep stuffing Ebay w/Visa Vanilla cards or cards similar for seller's fees. Not sure if PP & Ebay should have matching financial info.

It's not a dead end. Stop saying this all the time. It's annoying and simply not true.

Hmmm...was just going to try a listing NOT using PP for the 1st time. Looking into Google Checkout but how do you direct people there if there is no choice within Ebay?

There is an option when doing a listing to refer to listing for payment (or something like those words). Can you just insert another checkout method in the actual listing?

I believe the PP issue is a head-set thing. Most users on Ebay automatically assume they will need & use a PP account -- it is simply a comfort-level for most users. Good, bad otherwise, most buyers are comfortable using PP for purchasing.

Looking into Google Checkout now.

doughboykilla 03-15-2008 02:43 PM

i use google checkout on all my auctions and after the auctions ended i send a invoice from google to there email google has the invoiceing opition. The toughest thing is to get the brain washed cattle of ebuyers to pay u they think if its not paypal then your a scam or a credit card theive or stupid **** like that so its tough useing google on eGay and getting people to pay and belive me you will have alot of non payers to report if you sell alot of stuff.

What?
