eBay suspended "indefinitely" ~ PayPal okay

Earlier this week my eBay account was suspended "indefinitely." They had suspended me in the past but I was able to visit with a customer service rep and the account was reinstated. I was told earlier this week that they will not reinstate it this time. Ugh!

My previous PayPal account was suspended in January 2010 and I have been using a PayPal account in my husband's name. They did have the 21 day hold on the account late last year but my husband called PayPal and they removed the hold. I do not want to jeopardize the PayPal account because it is linked to my husband's SSN.

My question ~ should I buy an eBay/PayPal account or just rebuild one myself?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum :yar:

Sooner or later (soz, just had to say that) you need to check why this account got limited.
If you do not do that you have a high risk of repeating the problems with the next account.

Once you work out what happened, you can make your informed choice as to the next steps.

I had some personal issues (sick family member out of state) and my DSR rating went from a Power Seller and Top-Rated Seller to being "indefinitely" suspended. This didn't happen overnight but I was diligently working to bring up my rating when my store was shut down. I am at fault but . . . I'd love to have another chance with another store. I sell mostly internationally and tracking packages is not possible unless I ship via express mail which the buyers won't typically pay for. I sold HBA products (makeup, etc.), clothing, shoes, some books but no electronics. I have over 1,700 feedback but my % had dropped to 95%. I had my eBay account for almost 5 years.

After I posted the above message I called eBay one last time to see what I can do to have my store reinstated but they said I'm forever banned from selling but, get this, I am free to buy using this account.

My husband said he believes this happened for a reason and I should shut the eBay door forever. I'm not so sure but I understand why he feels this way ~ he has seen me struggle and hassle with eBay and their non-existant "seller protections."

Good advice from GreenBean. Get the stealth guide, read it, and see if it is something you can do on your own. You have to do everything right. If you can't, buy an account from this site.

Sucks when the husbands an a&& lol.

I would recommend your build one yourself and learn what works - it's a good process to understand.

Sorry to barge in here but I'd like to know something which is kind of an addition to the OP. If an Ebay account is suspended indefinitely, would the attached Paypal account follow the same limitation soon?

@ OP

Like everyone else said, you should build an account or two yourself to get the gist of things. But if you are in a hurry to sell, then you might want to purchase an old account from one of the sellers here. Although you will need to read a lot of the threads on these forums to figure out how to operate the stealth accounts. Good luck to you :)

If eb gets suspended, it's not ALWAYS true that pp gets hit - i have few pp that work well - and vice versa, pp out but eb still good.

I totally "get it" about the husband. I was indefinitely restricted just like you for having a few DSR shipping time marks against me. My husband has told me to make a choice between him and Ebay. Right now it is him...but for how long???...The forum is the best place to find people like you and to get help getting back on Ebay. I am just hanging out until I can convince him to let me back on  I am trying to stay up to date with Ebay and their policies.

Good advice above but I do know if you were honest about the sickness, etc paypal will let you prove it to them with documentation.

Not sure how far you can take it but if its a hospital stay for you or close family that caused late packages they will work with you. I know this for a fact. BUT if you are BSing them and had other things like Not as described or claims like that then you are probbaly out of luck since that would not cause those type of claims.

Just an FYI is all.....

When I first mentioned a stealth account to my husband he was dead set against this type of account. I forwarded a link to this forum and the link to Aspkin's book and he has changed his mind and I now have his blessings.

I will create a stealth account as soon as I figure out how to dynamically change our IP address.

SweatPea ~ I hope your husband sees the stealth light soon so you can get back on eB ay.

KingRay ~ I was honest about the illness. My elderly MIL (age 92) lives in another states and she has been ill and has had a couple of short stays in the hospital. My mom and dad passed away in 1996 and 1999, respectively, and my FIL passed away in 1989 so she is our only living parent.

I assure you I was dinged because of late shipping and not because of item not as described. Most (95% to 97%) of all of my shipping was outside the US so some of my international customers were really upset with the really late delivery of their items. I will gladly provide you with the name of my eB ay store so you can see my feedback (more than 1,700 feedback). I can still buy using this account but my selling privileges have been "forever" banned.

methrift 08-26-2011 12:36 AM

When I built my stealth, I even took notes of surrounding schools and streets just in case they call me and ask. lol

They have got nastier about doing this.

Agreed a sympathetic staffer may assist. But there has been a trend to not be so sympatico. Was it coincedential with the move offshore of the call centers? I think so.:croc:

ovidiu 08-26-2011 01:46 AM

Part of the problem, of course, is that someone says "oh Paypal will unlimit you if you say you had a family illness", then a hundred people use those exact words when calling PP, they get suspicious, and bam! It no longer works for anyone.

KingRay 08-26-2011 02:18 PM

Thats why ebay now requests documentation and decides based on that. Not sure if pp does it too but doubt it. Mainly has to do with ebay since they have the dsrs and feedback.

sacka_man 11-22-2012 04:12 PM

I am in an extremely similar situation as what is outlined in this thread. My eBay account was suspended in 2010 for low DSR ratings and negative feedbacks. Paypal was not suspended. My DSR ratings were 4.0-4.2, and 5 out of the last 25 feedbacks were negative. I legitimately did have a family death and emotional issues and neglected my eBay account and life. An eBay agent that I spoke to on the phone said she would submit an appeal and that they would respond within 3 days by email and potentially ask for more information, including a death certificate. My account was suspended "indefinitely". Has anybody ever seen a situation like this where the account was eventually reinstated? I keep reading everywhere that "indefinite" means to cut your losses and give up, but I really don't want to do this. I've made stealth accounts but I don't like that method. I want to be honest and not have to lie about my identity.

rsot 11-23-2012 04:48 AM

Have seen this happen with IMMENSE proof - submit death certificate and keep on pushing...hope you can succeed.

sacka_man 11-24-2012 06:04 PM

Yeah, I'm pushing. Still haven't received a response from them that they promised me they would send. It would be great if they would respond as they said they would. I would love to be back on eBay with my 100% honest, true-identity account.
