restricted eBay account after Too many PayPal refunds =

To make a long story short, I've had problems with a shipment of about 60 packages that were all sent the same day to the same country. Basically they were lost somewhere in the postal system and I contacted the buyers asking them if they wanted a refund or the item shipped again. About 45 wanted them re-shipped, while 15 wanted a refund. So I went to process the refunds on PayPal and 2 days later, I get an email from PayPal saying that my account had been "full restricted" because of low buyer satisfaction. Now, you might think that it was because low DSRs or something like that. Nope ...

The account is a Top-Rated-seller, with extremely high DSRs (all 4.80-4.90), not a single negative or even neutral in 3 years, not even a single revised feedback. And ...you guessed it, not even a single 1 or 2 star rating - EVER.

So the only reason for the restriction could be the 15 refunds, which makes sense, since it happened 2 days before. Now, eBay sent me an email that says that they also monitor disputes or claims when they calculate buyer satisfaction ...but refunds? No, they don't mention that.

The full restriction will probably last 12 months. I don't care but it seems ridiculous that they would suspend an account for being a good seller and giving the buyers their refunds just because the postal service lost the mail bag.

I've heard of other large volume sellers giving lots of refunds without question and never had a problem. But I'm surprised that they could. Maybe they've adopted an Amazon policy as refunds are not good! I only send cheques out to people for refunds, but this wouldn't apply to you.

Wow. I always assumed but they kept track of refunds but I was expecting it was a very minor thing. Since you had to send 60 items in one day that makes me assume this account was selling tons of stuff. I`m extremely surprised that they`d restrict your account because so little went wrong, compared to the big picture.
Especially if it`s 15 sales from one day, it doesn`t take a genius to find out that obviously you were out of stock/something out of the ordinary happened.
I will send out negative thoughts in Paypal's direction on your behalf.

I sold about 350 items every month on this account for the past 7-8 months, so the account was definitely quite "seasoned".

Dumbest idea ever.....If I find you as a seller I am going to buy some pricey items and want a refund. Then I can get the check and the A-Z claim. Can you be any dumber. I sell 400-1000 items a week, and average 2 refunds a month. When people complain about suspension due to refunds the factor in.......

-Category (High Risk = Better chance of suspension)
-Your Sales/Income
-Communication

I have a friend who does custom items on amazon, and his refund rate is over 10% and has been like that for 4 years. Keep in mind the refunds are all "customer returns / changed mind", not defect or not as described. All the people complaining about being banned for refunds are selling high risk items like software. Amazon is not dumb, but 90% of the people on here clearly are.
