My friend works for ebay in San Jose

I was up in the bay area this weekend and talked to a friend of mine who works for ebay. He did confirm for me that ebay is really cracking down on sellers right now. A new phase started this past fall and more restrictions are in the works I guess. He said they are taking these measures in response to recent surveys that ebay has conducted which indicate that buyers who are burnt by sellers are not likely to use ebay again by a large percentage. Obviously, the chilling effect of this is that a lot of good people are victimized. He admits that buyers are more important than sellers in ebay's eyes.

I tell you though, ebay employees really are out of touch. They live in a world of their own reason. The way he passionately defends ebay reminds me of one of those people who followed the Jim Jones koolaid crew.

I understand how eBay has to work for their buyers rather then their sellers. Without buyers there would be no eBay. There will always be sellers if there are buyers. So I understand all this. But eBay is doing more harm then good trying to appease buyers.

Oh well, that's why we're here.

yeah, it's almost funny to me now. i like to think of starting up new undercover ebay accounts as giving ebay the big middle finger.

you know how ebay can fix this. By doing stupid little things like having a customer service line or providing actual support and not just generic emails.

Yeah if you have a problem you don't get actual help just a generic cut and paste letter...back in the day I used to write angry letters telling them I didn't want an automated message I wanted an actual response...sometimes they would...but that...was a long time ago....no chance of that happening now..

it just gets worse and worse for ebayers, sellers and buyers, cant wait till google launches its own auction site.
