| | | hopelessinpa | 02-08-2007 01:47 PM | 1st Time Suspended from Ebay..Now What?? My husband and I have been suspended from Ebay, we each had our own accounts. These accounts were opened before we were even married and living in the same house. Anyway, the other night, my husband had an item listed and he didn't want it sold for that low $ amount. He did some research on the item and found out it was worth way more. He wanted to keep it. He had me bid on it so it would not sell. The next morning, bamm, suspended for shill bidding, which we never heard of before. Both our accounts are suspended. The letter said for 7 days. I faxed the reqeusted info in and I am still waiting. We do not care about my account, we only want to get his account up and running again. What are our chances of that happening?? What should I do about my account? I know now about shill bidding and if we knew this would happen I would have never done it!! This is a huge hit our pocketbook. What should we do know? I am trying to be honest with them and try to get reinstated their way first. So far, I am not receiving a response back. We were suspended 9 days ago. I would appreciate any help. I would Love to try Aspkin's way but I thought maybe I should wait and see what Ebay does first. You can also email me at michag72 [at] yahoo.com if you can help me out. Thanks. |
jamesy | 02-08-2007 02:01 PM | you'll be ok. you just need to sit it out until they let you back on. my first offence was shill bidding, I got caught and was off for 2 weeks. it's very common. |
hopelessinpa | 02-09-2007 11:36 AM | Do I still need to change IP address??? If Ebay reinstates my husbands account and not mine, should I still change our IP address? I have not accessed my suspended account since it has been suspended. We are not even going to try and reinstate that one. We are only working on trying to get my husbands back up and running. Will they suspend my husbands account again because of my account also being suspended? If I don't change our IP address, will they link it back to mine even if I do not login to my account anymore? I have not logged into my account at all since this has happened. I also have deleted all cookies and temp internet files and history every time I go back on to my computer. Will that help? This site is awesome for getting great info. Thanks so much!!! |
jamesy | 02-09-2007 12:10 PM | you will need to get both lifted before you do anything else. otherwise your husband's account will be linked to your (still) suspened account. ebay has already linked you two together
as tempting as it will be for you to get straight back into things when your husband's suspention is lifted, you absolutely have to get yours lifted before you do anything. |
coldfinger | 02-09-2007 12:37 PM | Give it some more time to see what ebay does first..email them again in a few days or so if they don't get back to you then maybe wait some more.
Ebay doesn't take shill bidding too lightly and rightfully so.
What you should have done was cancelled your auction instead of inflating the price with your other account. Time will tell now how they decide, and as a last resort if you don't get on in a month, I'd start using Aspkin's techniques. |
hopelessinpa | 02-09-2007 10:15 PM | Husbands accnt reinstated-what about mine-should I reinstate or leave alone?? Okay, my husbands account was reinstated today. I guess I need to reinstate mine now too. Our accounts were both suspended because they were linked. Can I use the same home computer to reinstate my account or will they suspend my husbands when I login? My husband has not listed or purchased anything since his account was reinstated. I told him not to until I get mine reinstated. Our accounts are only linked because of us having the same last name, mailing address and probably the same IP address. We each have seperate credit card numbers and email addresses on our accounts. His is through our internet provide and mine is through yahoo. We only have the same last name and the same mailing address and phone number. Should I use a different computer now to get my account straightened out or is it okay to use our same home computer? I just don't want to get him knocked off again. We are trying to take this one step at a time. I will not let him sell or buy until this is straightened out. I have not accessed my ebay account since we have been suspended. I have left it alone. Please Help!!! |
hopelessinpa | 02-09-2007 10:16 PM | Please check out my latest reply. I could use your help. You seem to know alot about this. Thanks so much. |
ebayaintstupid | 02-09-2007 10:57 PM | Open new accounts now... EBAY is stalling you waiting to see what evil you can do? Or tryig to scare you so you will lose tons of money.
First, Follow Aspkin's advice on how to open a new account and do it. Get a brand new IP Address for the new account. Then use a different name and address for the account. You can make it up. Use one with the same last name and the name of somone of the oppositte sex. Could be a husband or a wife. Makes it less suspiscious to buyers when you buy and sell.
Download Firefox and use it religiously. Set it up to automtically delete cookies whenever it exits and o it religiously.
Then, do not open ANY emails from ebay, including questions from EBAY buyers anywhere other than from within EBAY. Respond to buyers and sellers through EBAY only. Ignore all EBAY emails. Open them at your peril.
And start selling again and build up half a dozen accounts over time, so if one gets canned you don't get hurt so badly.
Don't pay EBAYs fees. Don't even respond to the suspensions. What you did was illegal. There are laws against shill bidding. If you respond, all you can do is admit you broke the law and give them your full idenficiation etc. Screw them. Don't do it. Start being a good, but stealth, EBAY seller. You will be able to avoid the EBAY schmucks until GBAY becomes a total reality. |
aspkin | 02-10-2007 12:39 AM | Well since you got one of your accounts back, why not try for the other first before giving up and creating a new account. I'm sure there is value to your husbands account and thus you are trying hard to make sure you keep it.
I would first clean your computer of cookies and any saved browser passwords. You should then change your IP address and try the reinstatement process of your eBay account hopelessinpa. Try to separate your account as far away from your husband's account as possible. Fax the details needed.
Once that is done, clean your computer cookies, passwords, and change your IP address again.
Then your husband can log into his account without worry. But you must be 100% sure you have changed your IP address, and any cookies are erased before you do this, so as to not risk losing the account.
Or even better, wait until your account is reinstated until you start playing around both accounts again.
If the accounts were already linked before the suspensions, they're not anymore; since your husband's account has been lifted. But that doesn't mean they won't be linked and suspended again because of your account.
Take your time, and you'll get them back. :) |
hopelessinpa | 02-11-2007 11:44 AM | Husband reinstated.Still working on mine.Need to change IP address anyway?? Aspkin - My husbands account has been reinstated and now I am working on mine. If mine gets reinstated, do I still need to change our IP address? If they do not reinstate my account will my husband still be able to use his account if I change the IP address? Do you think he will get kicked off again because of my account? He has not logged into his account yet at all. I am not letting him go near his account until we find out what is going to happen with mine. Thanks so much for your help. |

| I agree with this...get both accounts reinstated before doing anything..why take a chance to be delayed more with another suspension. Lets for arguments sake say that you don't get the other reinstated..then 6 months down the road they link the accounts again...back at square one. |

Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with having husband and wife on same IP address. Assuming you get reinstated, then just don't break the rules again and you should be okay. |
I dont know about that my father in laws account is based in MI and mine is NM they called it bid schilling just because my fathers address is on my address in ebay they connected the two together and we got suspended for it. So it does not matter if ebay hints of something funny they will suspend you with no questions asked to me its not worth it trying to get rinstated they will just have another reason to ban you by saying something stupid. | All times are GMT -5.
