Default Advice for taking over an older ebay account.

Hi all,

My account was suspended about three weeks ago. I've created a new account in my in-laws name, but I am hating all the restrictions related to new accounts.

I realized that my mom has an old sellers account that she has not used in two years. The account was created in 2000 and although nothing has been sold on it in two years it is rated as a silver powerseller. I thought you had to maintain a certain level of sales to remain a powerseller, but maybe the requirements are different for older accounts??? If anyone knows if maybe the account was grandfathered in under different rules, I am real curious how this account maintains a powerseller status with no sales.

Anyway, my real question is:
Does anyone have any advice for the steps I should take when taking over this account??
I am concerned that the account could get suspended if I go in and change all the information, add a new simon gift account and start selling.

She has bought 3 or 4 items in the past two years and has logged in regularly to lurk on the powerseller board, but other than that the account is just sitting there.

Any advice???

Wow, you have an absolute bag of gold sat there, you really do.

Firstly, make sure you have no traces on your PC of your old account. Delete all emails, and any automatic logins on your PC related to your suspended account.

Run ccleaner (ccleaner.com) to delete all your old cookies and temporary internet files relating to ebay. An obviously, change your IP address.

Now if you do start selling, I'd go slow at first, and build things up. A sudden influx of items will probably flag the account.

Why do you need to change the details? Can you not simply keep them as your mothers?

Thanks for the advice. I could keep the name as my mothers, but I would need to change the credit card info, the address and the email. I sell adult toys and don't want customers mailing payment to my mom and she wants to keep using the email address that is associated with the account.

I would think that if I start out slow like you recommended that it would not send up to many red flags.

From what I have read on this board this account is a "bag of gold" and I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize it.
