As we all see, PP is still hitting left and right with holds. Does anyone find that the eb category still makes an impact? Example - listing in specific categories used to have no pp holds - is this idea still pertinent?

Not true. Its becoming quite standard. They even talk about it in their policy now. It list like 3 criteria you must meet to minimize the holds. Including having to had 25 successful sells.

It doesn't matter the category anymore. They have stepped up this on all new accounts and don't think it will go away after the holiday.

25 sales no issues.

ship with their module NOT ebays

and positive feedback on that sale

are all ways to somewhat help the hold.

SOME accounts dont get the hold, some get it after 2 weeks, its 100% up in the air with no rhyme or reason behind that

So I have seen stugots - have 2 accounts with over 200+ feedback - more than 4 months and still dealing with holds.

@rsot-whoa that is a long time. My account had that for the first 90 days, but when the tracking shows delivered the money got released.
Second account I'm working on now, been buying on it for years and selling here and there, got hit with the hold last week. Also when tracking shows delivered, money got released.
I think it is pretty random.

Could be the issue then - one account never uses tracking - amounts are always sub-$10.

Category doesn't matter, how long you've been a member, or even the cost of the item. They can reinstate the hold at any event they choose.

On my account with 100+ feedback I got a hold for about 3 weeks on everything I sold, then they started letting stuff come right through. Now, I'm getting holds again.

Bottom line is: they are taking a swing at drop shippers, non-senders, and Vero sellers.

Is drop-shipping against their policy?
I am a drop-shipper, and the holds do indeed slow things down. But I never saw anything against drop-shipping in their policy.

Yup. I had an account that was rock solid for over a year and my ebay fees bounced accidentally and they put me on 21 day hold again. Paid fees and it was still there for a few weeks. A spike in sales brought it back also for a couple sales.
