Caught already? EBay asking me to call them?
 

So I listed my first item with my Stealth EBay account using a brand new laptop using a brand new IP address... Nothing at all linked to my old account whatsoever... I was ridiculously carefull...

I listed my first item... It sold... The buyer paid through Paypal... All good not frozen no problems... Didn't withdraw the money just left it there... It wasn't an item of any great value $40. Nothing like a cell phone or laptop or anything.


Went to list another item on EBay & I got the following message:

Anyone had any experience with this before?

This is normal you will have to call and answer the questions. If they can't pull your information from the database they will either tell you to fax in government issued ID and some type of utility bill to verify that you are still residing at the address. This can be done by using some creativity. If they do not give you the second option then they will tell you that you can't do business with eBay and you will NOT have selling privileges BUT can still BUY.

Yeh it happened to my new account just send in the details they request and you will be fine.

Damn I hope I can still sell... I've been very patient & jumped through a lot of hurdles to get this far....

They will try to pull the info from public database using the address and name on file. If it's stealth info answer none of the above.

OK, it is stealth info but the address does exist I believe.

What will they ask name, address, DOB? that kind of thing?

If its all stealth I should just not call? or call & give them the stealth info & hope for the best?

I'm a little lost here...

And if they can't find the information, they will ask me to fax them utility bill etc,

I had this earlier after listing my 6th item in a 2 month period which was weird. They asked me 3 questions... Previous car you had... Previous place you've lived...something about the name of a person I'm related to or something like that and I got the first 2 questions wrong :(

Not a smart idea to use someone else's address because if anything goes wrong they will go after that person.

This happened to me. I listed 2 items and they asked to call for verification. The account is not in my name and when I called they couldn't pull any information so they asked me to send ID & bank statement. I faxed it to them but I'm still getting the same message when I tried to list. Do they send confirmation when they receive the fax? I got confirmation from the fax machine that it went successfully, not sure why they're still asking for this. It has been a month. What you suggest I do? Should I resend the fax? I didn't want to call them again because they cannot verify the information online. I tried to resend the fax via the free fax but too many pages, so it failed, I might need to use a kinko fax or something. Your comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

If ebay limits my current account to buyer only I would be sooo pissed. Just got 2 new accounts that are about 3 weeks old. Only listed 2 items on one account and letting the other one sit. If shadybay limits me to buyer only, I'll just have to go on a buying spree and not pay for anything. Would be cool if I got some positive feedback while doing it.

Why would you go on a buying spree and not pay for anything. That is just asking for trouble and may cause problems for the person living at the house you used.

It is all over this forum for people not to use someone you know address or information.

This is a typical call request on a new account but if this goes down then the person in the address you used will lose their account if they have one or will not be able to get an account.

Nah they wont lose account, they will go through same process, send in documents, etc and then they will be fine. They cant and wont ban every address. People move all the time.

Yes people move all the time, but why give Ebay an excuse to limit your account for docs? Be creative and use made-up addresses, safest route to take IMO.

I have a theory about this, if you use VCC abd VBC to open paypal and ebay accounts dont you think they are more suspicious of these stealth accounts.

At present I am running a controlled experiment, 2 stealth accounts with VCC and VBA and 2 with regular bank accounts and credit cards.

I have already seen a difference with all the VBA stuff getting immediately 10 items to list with the conventional accounts 100 items immediately.

Also the conventional accounts had proper addresses with the proper people in them.

Another thing is why on earth should you just sell one thing a month and go slow, if they give you 10 then list 10 if they give 100 then list 100 unless you are selling vero stuff which then you are already targets waiting to be shot down.

i just got a stealth ebay and pp account my info is all stealth and made up i have listed two items and sold both and shipped i dont have any feedback yet cuz account is so new and i just sold the items...now ebay is asking me to call them...anybody has any item what they gonna say? are do i just need to move on with another stealth account? but i really would like to know what i did wrong if anything or what makes them want to speak with me they have suspended my account until i can and i have 48hrs to do so..any help on this matter would be great!!:help:

Same thing happened to me today- stealth account and they want me to fax in a drivers license or id and a utility bill... where can I get or make a cheap ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID ?

This has happened to me about a year ago, and all they asked me was my name address and b-date. then let me sell again. worte that can happen you start over, or have to learn how to use photoshop.

Honestly best way to start a new eBay stealth account from my experience is to buy a few things. Even if they are 1 or 2$ items. Let the account sit for a while. Then list some used clothing you have for .99 cents or something until you get a few feedback as a seller. Now days with Paypal or eBay you do anything and they freeze your accounts.
