A new member with selling restriction

Hello everyone,

I have been selling on ebay for 2 years..Recently my listing got removed MC999 on a toprated account. Then a 1 week restriction MC198 INI Temporary Selling Restriction
Tried selling from a different account on same paypal(i know a bad move) got a 1 week limit on that too..Policy compliance on both accounts is now low.
Now I am selling my other items from other categories..but didn't try the same item..
A friend of mine has a power seller status and probably because we shared a common network got linked.. But he still has the power status with no policy violoation..I know we are linked because he once tried to bid on my item and got the message..Please help me with my doubts:

1.Should I try selling the item or not?
2.How much dangerous is a 1 week limit of MC198? Should i sell similar items or not?
3.Should my friend sell the same item with different pics and description
4.Is selling from a mobile browser safe??Can ebay track when selling from 3g or 4g after deleting cookies, history, etc??

Looking forward for your support and will be happy to add my input in future. Thanks appreciate your help

Apart from Welcome to the forum :yar: I just want to ask you this question.

When you were a kid and you got told to not touch the stove because it was hot, how many times did you burn your hand and hurt yourself before you stopped.

Same analogy for ebay.

Hope you work this out :boink:

@digi, your post literally breaks every rule known to this forum, stop while your ahead.

digi 02-15-2012 12:42 AM

@marysman78 Could you please elaborate.. You mean i did wrong on ebay or rude to this forum? I apologize if I said or asked something inappropriate..I joke at my situations but do learn from mistakes. By 'ahead' I mean I am not going to stop my income by one blow.. Reading this forum I realize how naive I was with ebay and that patience and organized hardwork will pay..
I generally sell a variety of stuff.. mostly including electronic accessories, books, phones, and any valuable stuff I find home, craigslist or online deal sites..My primary ebay account is around 6 years old so probably they were mild on me till yet..

Rude in the eyes of ebay!!!! And we can show you how to be really rude by having stealth accounts.

No problems here. All good.

I bite when there are.;)

Thanks for your support GreenBean.. I'll try being a patient learner :typing: and looking forward to the rude part :croc:

Welcome to the forums - GB speaks the truth. You really need to let this account cool and make new stealth accounts. To avoid jeopardizing your "friend"'s account, don't push ahead with this policy violating account of yours.

No 3 is a killer.

Why would you risk your friends account knowing you have no clue yet to what your are doing?

Do not risk a friend for your own self interest. If you are really linked that is a shame. he needs to stop selling and get a new ip, clean cookies, new user account etc or his account will be gone also.

Why in the world would you bit on each other items? Huge mistake.

Slow down, learn the ropes and work on several accounts.

first rule is never use or abuse a friends or families account.
second is to stop shill bidding.
third is to learn the ropes before you do anything else.

It will take some time but it can happen.

Thanks a lot for the replies.. Yea after knowing all this I'll definitely avoid his account. We had shill bid for eachother a couple of times last year. With different addresses and bank accounts we never thought the linking would happen. Now reading the stealth i see our mistakes.. And here I go again:

1. Do you think his and my account will ever be unlinked.. I mean people sharing their wifi is soo common esp when they are visiting eachother. He uses wifi in starbucks too.So indirectly all the ebay guys in the local starbucks are linked to me lol...If ebay is so paranoid how will they make money? I mean anyone experienced the unlinking probably after a while..
2.And how do we manage the different addresses in the stealth accounts? What if there's a return?
3.Can ebay really track by passwords? I guess thats another big mistake from me..
4.Any light on 3g/4g listing?
Thanks guys..Really appreciate your help

By no.4 I mean listing from the phone browser not tethering.. Thanks

1.If there are any suspect LINKS to his & your EB A/C, these stay on EB radar permanently. You CANNOT unlink in some manner.
2. Use the search function within the board for ideas on this.
3.EB/PP can track many things, EB invested in the region of 6 million odd pounds last year on their technology to stay on top of everything.
4.I suspect phone listing CAN get you LINKED to a previous EB A/C due to EB being able to recognize the individual handset. I will see with interest what others have to say on this though.

Get dial-up or air card and start stealth. Never ever use ebay or pp again for those accounts and dont access them on the old ip... This will save your friends account for now.

And read rest of book, the read it again... Maybe one more time after that...

Once you know stealth without book you will be ready to dive in cautiously...

Dive in cautiously - phrase of the day.

along with this. put the 2 together and you are both asking, no begging for your accounts to get nuked. ill be watching for that thread

rsot 02-29-2012 11:54 AM

@OP, you have a lot of input on this thread - hope you will work things out properly for here on at least.

Shill bidding.

Might as well just toss your computer out the window.

Shill bidding can be done but since you don't fully grasp stealth, it is NOT wise to play these s(h)illy games.

Guess its not that bad.. my friend is still selling strong.. my account is up again, and I'm on my way to my first stealth account.. I agree with the linking process but there's stuff we don't know.. I have seen many people log in libraries, universities, at work &other public networks. And no they all don't get linked.. linking is not just limited to a network you share for a couple of hours..
I started selling 2years back, didn't even know what shill bidding was..I bid for my freind as he had a low starting price for an item and was afraid of losing on it..my guess is most people don't know such risks in the beginning..The learning never stops..

If I did, I think I would cry for days. Plus my PC weighs way too much.
