Go into any Natwest Bank and ask!!

Go into your local Natwest bank and there is a bar stand where you write cheques and deposit slips where you queue to see a teller. On the bar stand are application forms for prepaid gift cards. Each card has its own card number. You have to have a Natwest account and you buy them from your bank account. They are in multiples of £5-£250. They are intended to be given as gifts. The receiver can go into a shop and use the card to buy goods and services. As they have a card number I presume you can open an Ebay seller account like the American gift cards. Dont waste your time with the Post Office gift cards as they require user ID

No sooner than I raise this subject than an advert for uk prepaid credit cards appears on the home page of this website. The 3v prepaid card looks interesting. I think these cards are going to take off in the UK because they are the safest way to pay online and more convenient than carrying cash

I suspect Natwest is going to be the biggest banking name in the UK very soon.
Imagine having a product no other bank in your country offers.

Its a chicken and egg situation. Because there are not many prepaid cards, people in UK have never heard of prepaid cards, they dont know the advantages so there is little demand. It will take major promotion by banks for people to understand their use in UK. I think there is a vested interest not to promote them because UK banks earn so much from normal credit cards as their interest rates are at loan shark levels. The government doesnt do all it should to protect its citizens from corporate thieves who break what law there is. The internet trade would be fostered greatly by prepaid cards for people who are wary of using a normal card for online transactions. But new methods take time to catch on
