Rare - ebay actually told me exactly why account suspended

"Thank you for contacting eBay in regard to the restriction of your
account. From your email, it's my understanding you would like the
restriction on your account to be reconsidered. You agree not to sell
ebooks again and just to list items around your house.

In reviewing your account, we have found that the appropriate action was
taken when making the decision to restrict your eBay activities and will
not be overturning the restriction.

We have noted the following concerns:

Previous violations:
- (Policy): 1/13/12, Copyright Violation, - Choose
ANY AUTHOR EBOOK COLLECTION for any ereader Kindle Iphone Ipad Sony nook
- (VeRO) : 11/5/11, Chet Holmes International,
verosupport@aol.com, - Chet Holmes - Business Growth
Masters 3.0
- (VeRO) : 5/17/11, CBT Nuggets, Inc., piracy@cbtnuggets.com,
220784266814 - CISSP Certification Series CBT 42 Hrs Video RETAIL $395
-- Previous suspension or restriction:
- 7 day selling restrictions, 11/5/11, 1/27/12
-- Community reports questioning authenticity of listings
-- Current listings in violation of eBay policy
-- Relisting concerning items previously removed by eBay
-- Community concerns questioning the authenticity and source of items
listed
-- Concerning related accounts with similar activity

These concerns cause negative buying experiences and unfairness to other
sellers that are following our policies and providing great customer
service.

The eBay User Agreement states that we may suspend, restrict or
terminate user accounts if we believe you're creating problems, possible
legal liabilities, or acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of
our policies.

Your account will remain open to make purchases on the site and you can
continue to use your account to finalize your sales and speak to your
customers. However, you will no longer have access to sell on eBay.
This includes using another existing account or registering a new
account to sell on eBay.

While we understand that you may not agree with the decision to restrict
your account, based on an additional review, we've decided that your
account will remain restricted indefinitely, with no option for
reinstatement."

Therefore one would think that you SHOULD always be careful not to link accounts even if they ARE LEGIT.

Also NEVER LIST VERO items, I have noticed that most of the items that got removed due to VERO was just because of wording. I was able to relist the item as brand new etc.. However when the item was listed in a format that was different from original manufacturer it was removed. (yes, I know I should have known better.)

GreenBean 03-09-2012 01:22 AM

A 900 word post to say what exactly? :noidea:

gritscorp 03-09-2012 01:59 AM

Thought it would be beneficial for people to know that if you ask nicely you can get information and find out what you messed up on the first time so you do not repeat the same mistakes over and over.

GreenBean 03-09-2012 02:15 AM

'Had listings removed because of copyright.
I asked the reasons.
ebay shared that info with me.
I was surprised they did.

I would suggest be careful of what items to list & try to avoid ebooks & vero'

;)

GreenBean 03-09-2012 02:19 AM

Uber long posts get less replies. Best to try compromise.

Short sweet succint where practical :peace:

BiN4RY 03-09-2012 02:29 AM

This is not rare at all. eBay/Paypal would only not disclose a reason for suspension if they have doubts that your account is actually a stealth account or you are attempting something fraudulent, but they don't have evidence for it.

Ayusaga 03-09-2012 12:57 PM

Yeah, heh, they're only stating the obvious really. If it was for stealth, like BiN4RY said, they would try to avoid even giving you a hint of why it was suspended. But even then, the reason for suspension of a stealth account could slip out of their mouths.

imjustme 03-09-2012 03:45 PM

I would be concerned about this:

Looks like someone is reporting you.

Sneakee 03-10-2012 06:39 AM

Gritscorp - How did you get them to tell you the info? Was it the first call, 2nd call? Email or chat window? How exactly did you do this?

Whenever I hear about someone getting banned or whatever they always say Ebay refused to tell them anything.

Oh about legit accounts, if you have legit accounts I assume it means they are all the same name, address etc. I'm thinking that means they basically are going to be linked no matter what right? It's not like you can do the stealth thing and change ip addys. If it has the same info won't they link them regardless?

You got me so paranoid about VERO items and I'm still not entirely sure what those are. I'll have to take a look at that list I keep hearing about. What do you mean by you listed it in a different format than brand's format?

Anyways, informative post. I thank you.

rsot 03-10-2012 09:00 AM

Few folx are definitely reporting you.

newjerseymax 03-10-2012 02:09 PM

Yea people reporting you is def not good. I believe this is very common though... Competition is probably worst offender of this. Somehow need to say of radar.

diamonda 03-16-2012 11:56 AM

interesting OP- i agree with others who've said this is a really informative post- like others, all i'd ever heard before was the general vague standard responses from eb, so really interesting you actually received the breakdown of their concerns, guess it all depends under which "MC xxxx" number/suspension code they throw at you.

gritscorp 03-25-2012 03:51 PM

Thank you for all of your comments.

I wanted to stop by and answer your questions.

It took me three emails and about 2 phone calls to get this information. I wrote an email promising not to make the same mistakes and how I took responsibility for my actions etc..

Basically a kiss butt email, they did not give me another chance but least I got the info.

UnderBites08 03-25-2012 04:33 PM

Yeah. They normally wont give info when they have you linked so they dont give away how they linked you.

jeffweico 03-25-2012 04:45 PM

This was also more than copyright....

2 Vero reported violations

PLUS

A previous suspension

PLUS

eBay users reporting you

PLUS

re-listing items after eBay had taken them down

PLUS

strong likelihood of being linked to other accounts doing the same

Actually, it is amazing that eBay didn't send a nuclear bomb to your house! Any ONE of those issues can cause you to lose an account. The fact that you were not previously banned is a miracle.
