Cannot sell on ebay linked to another account

My account on ebay is xxxxx and have not been able to sell for awhile. They said that I am linked to an account bbbbcccc . I do not understand how I am linked to this account and they will not tell me how I am linked to this account. This person has not sold anything for years as far as I can tell.

Ebay won't tell me why I am linked or how I am linked. I am so annoyed at ebay because it is ridiculous how they determine someone is linked to your account. I have asked all my friends and no one has that account.

Welcome! Best not to have any personal info in your posts :D

Welcome to the forums - @jmurjeff, is your pp verified with bank prior to selling? (My first question)

tsong475 03-20-2012 10:14 AM

The same thing happened to me last month. I found this forum, bought the ebay stealth guide, and went stealth. I have 4 accounts now. IT was the only thing I could do. I thought eBay was being unfair to me and to you too. Looks like they did the same thing to the both of us.

Time for you to go STEALTH.

Yes it is verified. I have had the account for many years. Then one day I get an email saying my account is linked to some account that has not had feedback for years. I don't understand how I am linked when one account is many years old. I never sold to this account or have bought anything from this user.

Perhaps you owe them money on the old account.

Something about your info has linked them

rsot 03-21-2012 01:20 PM

Also possible that the OTHER account creator screwed you over by using your info? A bit less likely but 1) have you done a search on that other username? Completed listings, etc.

One account of mine got linked to a user that did not exist - was weird - I got that fixed.

I never made an old account. This was the only account I have ever used.

I looked at this account and the last feedback on the account was in 2007. I was linked September 2011. I have had this account since 1997. I think the email said I need to contact paypal. I talked to ebay and they would not tell me anything.

Ebay has some kind of problem with randomly linking accounts or randomly closing accounts that didn't do anything.

Who knows what happened. If I were you I would keep bothering them until you get it fixed. Please keep us updated. I'm so very curious.

Is it possible you opened your account with a phone number that you no longer use now? Maybe the person with the other account has that phone number?

Just one of many random ideas.

Could be a mistake really from eBay - or the only other reason i can think of is they you may have logged in your account in a public place be it a wifi spot/library/school?

You could keep trying to bug them and persure your account, but unfortunately usually when e/b makes their mind up it's then set in stone - In the meantime make a new account stealth style.

Never thought of the phone number deal. I have moved several times since I have had that ebay account. I will try and give them a call again probably on Monday when I have everything together. I swear I just want to sell a few items. Quite honestly I might just sell elsewhere because I don't have all these fees that ebay + paypal/ebay charges.

I might have logged in from school before. Or possibly a wifi. This maybe the most likely possibility of them all.

jmurjeff - Did you get some kind of automated message that had a notice on it before they closed it down due to linkage? Like an MC-xxx violation?

Yeah I think I did. It might have been MC-011 I believe.
