Newer EBAY accounts now under intense scrutiny

Today i went to relist my auctions on ebay and i get new note saying that i must have verifyd paypal to list my actions? Golly! Any one have the same note?

You can not submit your listing due to the following problems

Dear Seller

Congratulations on your growing sales with eBay! As a seasoned eBay seller, you'll need to become additionally verified before you can continue the fun. Please take a moment now to help your new buyers feel secure

To do this you have two options

1) Complete this via an automated process:

• Become PayPal Verified and link your PayPal account to your eBay account

2) Chatting with us now:

• Become verified through eBay

We wish you continued success with your eBay sales and thank you for being a member of the eBay Community.

I met this problem too.
What happens when you chat to ebay to get verified?
What do they want from you? Phone verification?
Can I use my prepaid cell phone?

leonid5000 05-09-2008 03:04 PM

ok so i opened new ebay account today. i dont know yet if they just want phone verification.

i made 2k and then went to realist and that happened..
i see it it happening to all new accounts now .
So all new accounts have to be phone verify now. I don't know if that is all or there is something else.
I didn't have any time to figure it out

Ballsack 05-10-2008 12:17 AM

I just tried to list for the first time on a 4 month account and got that same message.

jscan 05-10-2008 04:06 AM

my newest account is 4 - 5months old. i still have to sell slowly on it and watch how many vero items i sell

leonid5000 05-10-2008 04:44 AM

i opened new ebay and verify the phone number then it give me the code and then i listed 12 auctions like i always do. about 1 hour before they iven show up i got suspended..

i used 1888 number maybe thats why. Dose the phone number have mach the City you are in ? do they see if it is land line ??
I dont think they have any way to verify that..
Maybe because i posted 12 but i always do that. or maybe is just Saturday

leonid5000 05-10-2008 04:59 AM

i remember long time ago ebay took off my ebay actions because my phone was wrong .. It asked me to verify and i did with AIM messenger. i received the code as well and intered in to ebay.. And about 1 hour later suspended. Sance then i do not like these phone verifications... What is the reason? what can they see with phone number or i dont know. So it is same thing now only this thing bult in inside of ebay this time so you have to verify every time.

jscan 05-10-2008 05:50 AM

you listed too much, as said in the forum, you gotta start off really really slow with new accounts.

leonid5000 05-10-2008 05:54 AM

no it is not because i listed to much it is something else. till erstoday i have been doing 12 first day no problem ...i had like 100 accounts.not 1 suspended like that..... but sance 2 days ago they did this phone verification and it became a small problem.. well i will try list 1 see what happens

jscan 05-10-2008 05:59 AM

oh okays, well i know that its been said around the forum that you should only list small numbers within the first weeks or so of a new acc, but as you said it must be somthing else.

groundhog 05-10-2008 03:40 PM

I got the same message too. I did "ebay chat" for verification, but they told me "they could not verify me". They asked me only for the name and address.
So they suggested to do paypal verified. I added a new bank account, we'll see what happens next...
Can I use pre-paid cell phone for ebay phone verification? What is your experience?

imjustme 05-10-2008 03:46 PM

So they make you link your PayPal account ...what's the big deal?

groundhog 05-10-2008 08:40 PM

The big deal is that I can't use my old paypal account - I have to create a new and then go through paypal limited trouble once again. With ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info it's very hard to do.

SuperBowl 05-10-2008 10:01 PM

i got be verified by phone using the AIM numbers. i post only 1 item and later 1 item . all of them high risk category for a new account less than 1 week.
all of them showed up and finished succefully. i was lucky to convince the buyer s to use the GC later.
i think you should list slowy until you got some feedbacks first.
my account has 0 feedback.

alexzin 05-10-2008 10:40 PM

Well,i tried to create two accounts yesterday, they asked phone veirfication too. Will they ask finishing this process everytime we create new accounts?

SuperBowl 05-10-2008 10:58 PM

i guess that depends of a lot reasons maybe your IP , ISP ....
they ask me to verify by phone only if i want to list for the first time.
after my third item they asked me to link my verified PayPal with ebay.

leonid5000 05-10-2008 11:10 PM

i went to relist on 1 account and i had no limit but relisting on other one needed phone ver.

The asked you to link paypal after 3rd item after phone verification ? now that is something new . did you post 3 items in the row at the same time? any one else? are you in usa?

SuperBowl 05-12-2008 08:50 AM

no one by one like 10 hr to 20 hr between them. i am in USA

leonid5000 05-12-2008 07:36 PM

i did 3 listings same time and same thing happened

2eXclusiive 05-12-2008 07:40 PM

you have to take everything extra slow since its a new account, you should buy ebay stealth,
ex. : ebay stealth says you should wait awhile before listing an item
if they say you should wait 1-2 weeks before your first post

NEW accounts - YOU SHOULD WAIT 30 DAYS AND LIST ON THE 31ST DAY JUST TO BE EXTRA SAFE, I KNOW ITS TEMPTING TO LIST, BUT YOU'LL BE BETTER OFF IN THE LONG RUN.

leonid5000 05-12-2008 09:06 PM

wait 1-2 weeks before your first post? that will not help you trust me i had 100.s of accounts in the past. This is new security update and it happened 2 days ago. Never had anything like this. you can whate 2 weeks just to find out the same here is up to you. for all that time i have been posting 14 auctions a day with no problem on all of my accounts.. too bad this days are over . saved on fees and made lots of $ but now have to stick to cople of ebay accouints and pay the stupid fees.

cash415 05-12-2008 10:03 PM

I made an account a few days ago and posted a few auctions. From what I recall, eBay required to verify my phone number upon listing my first auction. Also, eBay required to either link a Paypal account or a merchant account for a secured payment. Though my account was recently suspended because I didn't change phone numbers, I think these are the new procedures eBay is taking to provide their "community" with security from possible fraudulent members.

I don't really think it matters how many listing you post upon having your new account activated; however, the more listing you make within your activation, it might make eBay look closely on your account.
