Paypal Alternative - Please advise

Hello. I've had my fair share of Paypal. I have decided it's time to move onto something else. I am here to ask for some alternatives to Paypal.

All of these transactions will be made through eBay auctions, so my question is, if I go with a "merchant account" (which I'm still learning about), will I notice a large drop in revenue? What I sell on eBay is digital guides; I do not sell any tangible items.

Thanks for viewing the post, I've had one hell of a hard time the last few weeks with Paypal and eBay and I'm really needing some advice. :(

You can try google checkout. Just as bad as paypal if not worse but at least they don't charge any fees.

Merchant accounts are good, but they cost more

You have to be quiet about it and send them an invoice after the auction. A majority of your bidders will be ok with it but there's ALWAYS the occassional ******* accusing you of ripping them off or refusing to use google checkout for whatever reason.

I signed on with Merchant Services LinkPoint and I guess I didnt read the fine print too well..(who does?). The first month was fine, they deposited my payments minus their 50.00 fee but the next month after that Ebay acc was suspended, I had no sales. They took their 50.00 fee. Okay. Now 2 months later i get a collection notice from them for 275.00! Something to do with my bank account they were trying to take their "fee" from being closed!
I am going back to USPS Money Orders only again, knock on wood....I didnt have 1 problem with it! Just slower than instant pymt.

What's the $275 for?

And if the USPS MO's aren't for a huge sum, they will validate and cash right at the PO. Probably about the safest thing out there with all of the bogus MO's around these days

Do you state that you accept Visa Mastercard on your ebay account?

The problem I ran into is that I was accepting Money Orders Only but had to that I accepted Visa or Mastercard on my listing it would not let me list unless i had a merchant account.. so when people won there items i sent them an email (not through ebay messaging) telling them my merchant account was not set up yet and if they could please send me a money order from the post office because I can cash it there and send out there items right away.. the problem I found with money order is you have to give the buyer your real info 9 out of 10 times there problably wont be a problem but I ran into someone that did start a problem because the name on my ebay account was differnt from the name they were sending the money order to..

Any suggestions???

let them send to the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and indorse it with the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and then yours. just like a check person a signs over the mo or check to person b with the double endorse. dont think it would work though if you signed two names right infront of the postal clerk LOL BTW this is in theory and I havent tried it myself.

If you put down in your listings that MOs are fine - peeps will send these off to the address of record before you can stop them.

The buyer would usually email me and I would give the buyer my PO box address to mail payment. Most buyers will ask before mailing out the MO for the correct address
