Multi-Account - Some Suspended - Others OK
 

Any ideas on what might have triggered the suspension??


Will my other accounts still active get suspended?


Background:
*I have been on eBay since 2005
* I use several accounts. I am a good seller, take good care of my customers (across accounts 98.8%, 7k+ feedback, DSR good on all accounts).
* I got one account suspended in 2009 (rough patch, suppliers issues during a month and it killed me).
* Despite the suspension, I was able to open several other ebay/paypal accounts and sell without a problem using my wife's maiden name/different mailing address.

The suspension
My main ebay account got suspended today. I am really bummed. It was generating ~$20K sales a month.
* The account was 2y old and in great standing.
* I sell generic health products with no famous branding
* I have an employee in France who has been uploading new items in ebay germany (~ 5 new items a day) since last month
* I was not really careful and over the years, I may have re-used a phone number or a shipping address from the suspended account.
* Paypal called me A LOT this year to ask about my business model. They slapped me with a 7% reserve due to risk.

Ebay told me:
* from email: " Your eBay account has been suspended because recent account activity has raised security concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm--even unintentionally--to the eBay community.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to use eBay in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.

* I called customer support and I was able to understand:
There is nothing I can do. It *might* have something to do with an old suspended account and sellers violations but they were 'not allowed' to tell me more. My account was flagged as "Extreme Business Risk" according to one rep.

The funniest thing is that they told me to go sell on.... Amazon !!

I have two other ebay accounts in great standing still selling as of today but one of the rep on the phone clearly told me that she saw them linked to the one that was suspended.

Will they get suspended too?

Its unsure. If you use the same information on the other accounts or you share the same IP/User account...then...yes. Most likely.

If the eBay rep said she could see the accounts were linked to the suspended account, I would think it is only a matter of time.

Anybody has insights on what is the timing to suspend linked accounts?

I was under the impression that linked accounts would get suspended together?

Not necessarily. It can sometimes take the systems a while to play catch up with each other. Some people have their ebay accounts go down, yet their paypal accounts are in good standing.
But, almost 9 times out of 10 when a paypal is suspended, the ebay account falls quickly after.

This linking of accounts my have to do with you probably using an old phone number or your address might not have varied enough. You can use your old address as return address but not with the same old name and also you CAN not use your old address and shipping address where you shipped your item from.

Did you do any of these by mistake?

20K a month.....WOW! Good job! Just start working on creating other stealth accounts because its only matter of time before they close u down. The bad news is you will have to start small again but if your making that much money then starting small is no good. You should be looking to see if someone selling a top seller or power seller account. Maybe ask GreanBean if he knows if anyone is selling one.

LOL! Rep told you to go and sell on Amazon. That it utterly ridicules! eBay has no shame ...

Accounts may stay up for some time.

By the time you read this, they may be gone.

Now that you are 'stealth', learn the ways to avoid linking accounts.

I made those kind of mistakes for sure. The suspension was a long time ago 2008 and I have never had a problem ever since. So I thought I was off the hook with eBay and my suspension was long forgotten.

I was fuming when I heard that. Both reps told the exact same quote so I am assuming it is part of their script.

I also liked the way they told me that 'eBay does not want to do business with you', 'eBay is letting you go'

Thanks! Accounts are still running strong and selling (only 48h). I started publishing items slowly from the suspended accounts while I create stealth ones. Both running accounts have high limits (40.000 items /1.5 million dollars inventory) so it may be why they did not get taken down. I have got nothing to loose at this point since name/address/ip is infected.

I am staying positive. The forum, the guide and the replies are helping me keep my head up.

While it is rough, eb and pp can arbitrarily ax off sellers if deemed high risk...and high risk could be pullin loads of cash on generic health products.

And if the rep sees a link, it could be only a matter of time before they go down :(

Keep pushing back and make up stealth backups ASAP.
