TurtleCove | 02-28-2013 08:59 PM | Got a mc999 - the good one Years and years ago, I sold on ebay. Back when shill bidding was a way of life. I was one of the first 500 people to get a sellers account.
As time went by, I had account after account caught, and dumped. EB got better, and I got better, and the game continued.
Each time they dumped me, I'd figure out what I did to get caught, and bypass the issue. Every time, I was in the wrong. Shill bidding, vero, ... that sorta stuff.
Then I started selling legit stuff. Fully legit. Stuff I'd actually make in my shop. Most of it was heavy...like upwards of 70 pounds each. Heavy items were a struggle to sell, cuz buyers would ding me on shipping cost, just because it was so darn high, even though the shipping cost was clearly stated in the auction. Folks thought by giving me a low mark on shipping, they were actually grading the post office.
My shipping rating was getting so bad, eBay again threatened to dump me. Since I was legit, I was furious, so I called them, and we went round and round about it. And then again, after a few more shipping hits, I got dumped.
Funny thing was, about 2 weeks after getting that last dump, they instigated their charging a FVF on shipping, which in effect, meant I should now sell my heavy items with free shipping. If they'd have put that rule into place a few months earlier, I'd have never gotten dumped ... and probably never would have found this website. So, I called EB back, and pleaded, and argued, all to no avail. I had just bought over $7K of inventory to sell, and now it just stared at me.
So, I found this site. Read. Learned. Asked some Q's. Then made 5 accounts.
All 5 are still going, to day, and a few weeks ago, I just got a MC999 that my limits were raised way, way up (on one of them), and I was given Top Rated Seller status.
I'd like to thank everyone up here, for supporting this board, and for answering my questions, as well as asking both smart and dumb questions. |
