How do I create a fictitious business name / dba business? What benefit is it?
 

I posted once on this forum half a year ago thinking I'd never have to go back here. Well, here I am. I got suspended for trying to sell on ebay while my paypal account had a negative balance due to a dispute.

I've went over Ebay Stealth and found it amazing. However, I have a question.

Am I correct in saying that you only need a DBA if you want a PO Box and a merchant account?

Right you only need a DBA for certain Merchant accounts & PO Boxes. Some PO boxes don't require one, but some do. But having a DBA makes it easier to create legit new eBay and Paypal accounts.

Thanks for the reply! Also, say all 10 of your ebay accounts have PO Boxes in one post office. Wouldn't that cause some suspicion?

What is DBA??? I bought the book, but I'm still reading it. I do have a question on this topic, sorry to threadjack. :)

I will be using a P.O. Box and I am aware that on Ebay I need to write it as an address, like use the address of the post office and the # for the po box number.

It makes sense to do it that way, but do I have to write it out the same way on Paypal as my Primary address? If I buy items at Ebay, I want to make sure they get to me, so I would feel better when I send payment, my shipping address shows as P.O. Box instead of an address..

Is it not a good idea to do it like that?

EBay and Paypal do not like PO Box addresses, correct. It's best to ask the people where you bought the box to see how you can write it where it doesn't look like a po box and yet still works.

I'm not sure if having tons of PO Boxes will make you look more suspicious or not, but it sure sounds like it might.

Most people use either a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address or relatives addresses.

Just to clarify, when you refer to a DBA or assumed name, this is the name you chose when filing for a business license for your county? Or is it a separate form?

I understand Paypal and Ebay hate P.O. Boxes. I would NOT use a P.O box to sign up with either.

I would make sure it was written like this:
123 Post Office Address
#54
City, State.....

My question is, Paypal let's you add more than one address.. Can you also add this address as a P.O. Box later on, maybe a month or two after registering and have it set as a "shipping address"... or no?
Like if I registered with the address above and then added on another address later
P.O. Box 54
City, State.........

Do you think they'd catch on to that? I understand I would have to get the OK from the post office to use the P.O box number as an address. But, I am just concerned about packages not getting to me.
