How Long Until I Get Banned?
 

Hi I am trying to sell a modded xbox 360 on eBay. It is like a RGH or JTAG mod if you have heard of any of those. This is against there policy of "modified consoles."

At first I set the auctions to 7 days and after 4 days I would get the "MC999 Listing policy violation alert: Copyright Violation - Unauthorised Item" email and it was taken down.

I did this three times and it was taken down three times. Then I switched to 3 day auctions, thinking they wouldnt catch me until the 4th day when the auction would already be over, and I was able to sell 4 of them in a row without any problems.

This week I decided to list another one and I get the MC999 Listing policy violation alert: Copyright Violation - Unauthorised Item alert a day later, I have tried to list it 3 more times this week (4 total), every single one taken down and I get the MC999 email. I thought I only get 3 strikes but clearly I have gotten many more. Can I just keep listing like this until one of them finally goes through or am I asking for trouble?

Your account is in SERIOUS Trouble, at this point Im QUITE sure that it has a HUMAN Monitor, someone who checks the account Frequently, if you want to keep the account,,I would voluntarily, STOP ALL Selling, and Let the account sit for a few WEEKS, and then begin to ONLY BUY for at LEAST 2 Months,,and then begin to sell on it SLOWLY,,,and ABSOLUTLY NO Gaming systems, modded or otherwise,,,

My best guess is that you will lose the account very soon. In fact, I'm surprised it is still active. eBay takes copyright violations very seriously. Add to that the fact that you keep relisting something they have taken down, and I am at a loss to explain how the account is still active.

Take Slapped's advice, he is one of the most knowledgeable members on the forum.

You are taking a very great risk and have a high chance of losing your account.

Your other risk is that ebay may also go back to earlier buyers and suggest to them to make claims against completed sales.

Start acting to try to salvage the account.

If you want any chance of keeping the account, stop trying to sell what your selling.

Better to stop selling all together for a few months.

Stop listing this again and again. Explore what is going and 1) make new stealth accounts 2) try and experiment with new sales on those accounts.

You really must stop pushing this account.

Yeah I don't know why it is still able to be used but your right I must have a human watcher at this point since they find it and take it down in such a short amount of time.

This is not my main account but is connected to the same paypal and email and used on the same computer (so not a stealth).

You are riding on the protection of that other account.

STOP right now or you will lose both accounts.

Ensure you never relist this type of item and go fully stealth in the future.

You NEED to C & D (CEASE and DESIST) ALL of your selling activities if you want to even have a CHANCE at saving these accounts,,,and you need to get the Stealth Guide and create some INDEPENDENT stand ALONE stealth accounts,,,because the title of your next thread is going to be:

i suggest you close your account before it gets restricted .. then open a stealth acct

Selling modded consoles is what got me banned back in 2008. eBay does not allow them under any circumstances, dont' sell them anymore. Even if you do manage to get it slipped by and was able to sell it, eBay can still remove your listing AFTER it ends along with a very nasty note to your buyer, as well as suspending you in the process.

I agree not worth losing an eBay account over. I haven't played a Video games in nearly 10 years. But my last Console was a PS2 that I put a mod chip in myself. Most people don't have the skills to soldier and what not. Probably something if you talk to some gamers your could sell locally.

I did this with a Wii some time last year and got it taken down. And i noticed at least 10 or more other auctions selling the same hacked wiis. But whoever notified ebay of mine musth have done it to others because the next day all of them were gone. I find these things wil sell on craigslist or ioffer as they dont care. Ebay is too big for themselves.

Id list on ioffer and craigslist. There is a guy around here who does the modding for wiis and charges like $30 or something. I use to do jailbreaking for apple tvs and ipods and iphones and such locally and did very well with it. If you know how to do this stuff offer it in your area as well as the modded xboxs

No real need to close it - just do other things with it. Stealth is a good thing of course

eBay will suspend you for farting these days. Get the book and make some stealths.
