buyer returned merchandise to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address
 

hey guys,
I need your help. a buyer said item didnt arrive as expected, so i told them to return it to me, and in the email i gave them my real address. but on the package, when i sent it, i had my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and address on the top left of the package, where the sender's information goes.
The buyer emailed me and told me they didnt see the email that i sent with my real address and they sent the item today to the address on the package. i think the address doesnt exist, so it will be returned to the buyer.
I have no idea what I should tell them when it gets returned to them. i am willing to refund once i receive the item back, but i am afraid they will find out that my info is ⊗⊗⊗⊗. what do i do now? if they find out they will report me to trust and safety and i will be toast

Well if they get it back, then they will know where to send it because of your email. But I would give them money to ship it back to you now.

Tell them that you're taking care of your sick mother, or you just moved or something. Hopefully, the buyer will receive the item back and then they can forward it to your "temporary" address.

but if i am taking care of my sick mother, the package wouldnt get returned to the sender. and if i just moved, it should get forwarded to me new address

you should just write the real return address on the packages in the future so this isnt a problem

You can also use a mail forwarding service to get your returns also.

my qustion is what do i tell the buyer in this case? i know I SHOULD HAVE or COULD HAVE used a po box but now its too late. what do i tell the buyer so that they dont get suspicious and report me for having a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address? if i say i recently moved it doesnt make sense becasue the package would have got forwarded to my new address.

Hey - if you created an account with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, you should have been prepared for the day that you would have to abandon it.
You should also have a back-up account for just this reason.
Consider it a lesson learned.

Next time use a MaliBoxesEtc. or UPS Store mailbox or some other mail drop.

First, always put a good address on the return label. Lesson leaned, you might have to simply eat your loss.

Second, there is no guarantee that this item will be returned to the buyer.

Third, if this buyer reports you to Ebay or Paypal on the address issue, good by account.

Sometimes it is easier to simply eat a loss than eat many losses to a suspended account....

I have sometimes shipped items to buyers and have the mail returned. Recently I had one to a good address returned due to post office error and after calling the post office a lot, I resubmitted it. I've also had a lot of people who when I ship signature required they claim they did not get any notices, if the buyer shipped it back to you signature required.

You can simply tell them you're surprised and that the mailman for that address sometimes mixes up mail with neighbors and does other things because you live in the ghetto so they should have used the PO Box return address you gave them.
