Account Suspended Indefinitely & Parents Account Restricted?
 

Alright so I have my own ebay account which I was selling virtual items on. At the time I didn't realize it was against ebay's policies as you can sell domains and stuff which I see as virtual items also.

Long story short, my account was suspended indefinitely today from selling. I logged into my parents account hoping that it didn't affect theirs but it did. :(

It says that their account is linked to mine and until some things are verified they cannot sell anything and all limits have been set to 0/00.

It gives them two steps to resolve the issue which is to go to "My Ebay - Selling" and click on "request higher limits". However, when I click on that it says that they cannot request higher limits because the other account is suspended.

So now I'm stuck on what to do to try and fix this as the only instructions they give me to resolve it don't even work!

Should I call them up and explain the situation and how my parents account had nothing to do with it at all? Or should I have my parents call and basically say the same thing?

I feel so bad for having their reputable account get restricted like this...I had no idea this was going to happen. :/

Anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

You can try speaking to them but if you all use the same accounts on the same computer and same address they will link them and unlikely they will be of much use.

Create some more accounts

it stinks, but your parents accounts are done for. If you have knowledge of stealth then I would make them a new account

Sale of virtual items is always risky...at this point of time, the accounts are finished - you can try calling so good luck to you.

Take time now and learn stealth.

Always good to learn stealth and have multiple backups going.

Virtual stuff is always tough for eb/pp without physical confirmation.

Parents accounts are most likely toast now.

Ebay will not reinstate your parents's account.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I was hoping it wouldn't come to this but it looks like I'm going to be learning how to make a stealth account. :/

Stuff happens. It could always be worse.

Learn the stealth way and I guarantee you will make more money then before.

That is rather naive.

Go re-read what the OP wrote. He is struggling to sort out the account for the parents.

How do you know that the parents did not have a 'good' account making them money with a supplied SSN?

Sure the OP can make stealth.

Where does that leave the folks?

Naive? The OP just lost their parents accounts due to his/her mistake so it's his responsibility now to get something managed for his parents.

If the accounts were special the OP would have included a lot of more drama in their original post like many others do but rather he/she sounded like it wasn't that big of a deal.

SSN is a big deal but there is ways to manage.

Not really a lot of feedback. My account had just reached 50 and my parents was around 150-160.

I just feel terrible since their account has been around since 1999. But like I said, if there's nothing I can really do about it then we'll just have to go Stealth.

We're going to call them up tomorrow and see what we can do.

What you have written infers that a user may touch the account of any other party and there will never be an issue.

I sincerely trust you have not thought outside the box when you made the statements.

Bear in mind others read threads. They might misunderstand the need to be circumspect with using any ebay account but their own.

Considering there is a general consenus to not use others' info, this relates strongly to 'borrowing' Mom & Dad's account & stuffing it up.

You're right - eB keeps ALL old info that was ever entered in the system.
