Default Did I just willingly Infect my eBay Account?

I have been using the VPN approach. I opened my browser and ebay automatically opened up before I got a chance to turn my VPN on. I closed the window as soon as I read ebay on the tab. So the window was never fully opened. Am I infected?

Also I know that most sites track what sites brought traffic to their sites and where the visitors went after viewing their site, so if I have aspkin.com open on my tabs is that a major red flag?

They can see if you clicked on an eBay banner ad on yahoo, for example. But they cannot see your browsing history.

eBay don't know that you had askpin on a seperate tab.

They would however have detected your cookie loading when you opened eBay, I wouldn't have thought this would be a problem though as their only real log is from login IPs.

If you haven't used VPN to access Ebay your main concern will be the IP. They have logged it and you are probably managing an account that is not in US, right?
No personal experience but if this was a "one off" you will probably have no issue but be very very careful in the future.

What inspired a VPN?

Brain infection?

GB, what inspired that remark? I have been successful with a dedicated VPN for the last 6 months. Don't have to worry about using my mobile hot spot and getting an already used infected IP. Not to mention not having to keep IP log is big stress reliever for me.

@Swizzle, 1. if you didnt LOG into your eB account, you should be fine....you are getting activity-related directed ads...normal.

2. Aspkin.com is NOT a flag - I am on the site even when I am on my eB accounts...no flag there

To each their own.....

I have yet to find the need, even not being USA based, to run VPN.

Pubblic networks are very risky... You could have used an already banned IP.
Careful.

eBay "remembers" the login because your cookies (LSOs) are stored locally on your Windows profile.

Using a public network is what is worrisome. As ilcarletto mentions, using a public network is risky. Avoid that method.

I wouldn't be too worried if it is only one case of this happening.

However, if that IP that you accidentally used is flagged on another account, repeatedly doing this will cause it to be linked to that account.

Browsing eBay using a VPN has no effect what so ever. Log into your account, then you are in huge trouble.

An actual log-in might creat a link.

Concerns here are always a library may not be secure. In fact some users here are using the same IP yet they are different people.

If we detect that, rest assured paypal/ebay detect it too.

Your aim is to have a 'safe' IP as quickly as you can.

I would never use a VPN for eBay. I have always heard on this forum that ebay doesn't like VPN's and the ebay account may get limited.
