| JackNoMore | 02-17-2007 11:01 AM | Putting a regular credit card on file with ebay / The EBAY AVS system Ok, so you want to place your credit card on file with ebay but you're afraid of being linked to a suspended account. If gift cards are not an option (for whatever reason) for a small period of time, what information can you/must you fudge and what absolutely can/must be right? I could swear this was covered before somewhere, but how about a refresher for the new blood and the brain impaired (present company included)? :p |
JackNoMore | 02-17-2007 05:02 PM | Modee, which part of the address should be accurate (and should it be accurate to the ebay account information or the actual card)? The street address or the location, city/state/province, country, whatever? Will ebay take the card even if you put in completely whacked info on it that doesn't match at all? That's what I'd have to do if I want the card to match up to the account user information. |
aspkin | 02-18-2007 04:48 PM | I'm sure any address close to your IP will work. |
make0moneyonebay | 03-06-2007 06:23 PM | Guys, I try to create a selling account today. I was putting my dad's debit card , i thought the billing address is my releative address, but ebay system don't accept the card saying address does not match. Then I immediately call my bank to verify the billing address of the card, and found out actually it is my old suspended address. Will I lose this ebay account and the new address? Will ebay system able to locate the billing address by actually based on the card #? |
aspkin | 03-06-2007 11:46 PM | Different credit cards work in different ways I've found. Gift cards from Simon, or other prepaid cards can have their address modified and will be accepted by eBay. If you use a debit card, or real credit card, they are more secure and won't accept their card being used if the address is too much off. Usually the numbers of a street address and or name have to be the same or similar. Some spelling can be off to fool eBay, but you must not use the same exact information from another eBay account of yours. You just have to play around with it.
Hope that helps |
make0moneyonebay | 03-06-2007 11:49 PM | hey Aspkin,
I guess my concern is since my dad's debit card has my suspended address on it. Will ebay system able to catch the debit card's billing address and suspend me? |
make0moneyonebay | 03-07-2007 02:06 AM | QUOTE FROM ASPKIN: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe. EBay uses a number of factors to link accounts. If you're using the same ip address as your father, or computer for the mater they will link your accounts easily. If not, and you use the same street address and not name, they might link the accounts for this. It's not 100%, but they might. You have a 50/50 chance that they'll either link accounts or do nothing.
but I mean my debit card was not succesffully input into my ebay account because avs system found the mismatch on the registered address and the billing address( suspended account address) of the credit card. And will ebay get my billing address handy now as supposed this infor should be stored in bank system only, not the merchant. AM I right? |
belerim | 03-26-2007 11:55 PM | Name/address issue Maybe sounds dumb but I need some clarification.
I read about registering to Ebay with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name/address...
How can you register Ebay with different name then the one on the virtual credit card - would they accept it?
So the Ebay account will be on John Smith name but is verified with Jill Kelly's credit card?
About the address - Once you buy a Entropay virtual credit card will be easy to change the address ?
I'm asking it because when you buy it you should provid legit CC info.
Thank you in advance |
ihatebay | 04-17-2007 11:56 AM | Different registration info and credit card info, will I get suspended? Hi, I had a ID that had my real info on it that I was using but now I JUST CHANGED my registration info to a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ person (completely new first name, last name) and ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address. But my credit card info is still the real deal.
Will I get suspended for having a different credit card other than my registration info? I have quite a number of good feedbacks so I don't want to lose this account!
Also, I was wondering I use Google Checkout. So, basically I have to log into check if customers paid. If I log into Ebay FIRST then log into Google Checkout will I be linked to my suspended ID? (Which also used Google CHeckout? ).Keep in mind that I am logging into Google Checkout AFTER I log into Ebay.....
Also, do not mention Google Checkout in your listings, that's why I got banned one time! Ebay Paypal pigs suck. |
maris23 | 04-17-2007 12:52 PM | I was also wondering if I could use my credit cards in my name, to set up an account with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name/address. The credit cards have never been used on FeeBay or Paypal. Would it raise a flag when I tried to verify my paypal account or make a payment with my credit card? Thanks |

aspkin | 04-23-2007 10:01 AM | I always use my real address when buying a simon card, but as for eBay it's always a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ one. EBay doesn't check against this and it works 99% of the time. Quote:

In other words, does a Simon giftcard use AVS to verify payment? | |
aspkin | 04-23-2007 10:03 AM | Wow, seems I missed this one. Sorry for the late reply, but no eBay won't be able to find your real address. The only address has is the one you give them, and it's up to the credit card company to accept that. As long as the address is close to the original eBay will accept it and leave it as that. Quote:

Don't you need to put in a billing address for who will be receiving and using this card? If you use your real address, how can you use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ one when using the card on ebay? The two addresses have to be the same, right? Quote:

make0moneyonebay | 05-07-2007 02:02 PM | guys, I bought a arvestgift card. and using it for one zero feedback account to sell. I list 3 items, that account got suspended the same day. Will it be a problem because of the gift card? I start off to sell on zero feedback. I list 3 ipod accessory items. It worth under 20 dollar each. Ebay suspend me for abusing them. What the hell |
bollock2ebay | 05-12-2007 05:01 PM | If you tell your bank you changed your address they wont ask for proof and you can ask for statements to be sent to another address. This might be the answer to your problem. I take credit card payments. When I receive payments my bank statements or card merchant statements dont show any personal details of the payees. It might be different for ebay. When you make a payment your statements show who received payment so you can check so maybe ebay needs some reference for payments but it might only be ebay ID name. In the UK when you give your credit card details over the phone for buying you have to give the door number and post code numbers as verification. Thats why at least the address numbers you give ebay have to match those registered to the card for card payment to be made. I would think everything else can be changed in the address. Fortunately there are letters in UK postcodes that can be carefully changed according to locality. If you make the mistake of signing a monthly direct bank debit, when ebay sends the mandate (which you signed) to your bank it will show the name and address you gave ebay. So the bank will probably refuse to pay probably without telling ebay why because why should they give out details of another unconnected person? But even in the unlikely event they did Ebay might assume theres an innocent explanation for this like a miss typing error that threw up a different persons account details. Bear in mind that Ebay doesnt handle payments itself but sub contracts this work to large accounting companies and not being direct ebay employees I'm not sure if they are that bothered about ebay issues. Aspkins says theres a possibility that giving wrong details like account number might result in someone elses account being charged by mistake but actually i dont think this would happen because the bank would not accept the mandate as none of the personal details match the account number. It would only happen by a huge banking mistake and you are not responsible for that. |
