MC999 - Please help (new account)

Hello all:

After being on eBay for 10 long years - I was dumped :ahhhhhh: earlier this year (what a perfect start to my new years :( )

Anyhow, I made myself a new ebay account recently - new address, new phone number

This is where I made a mistake, I went ahead and listed an item within 4 days of registering. The item was listed for $80 (4 pieces available)

The next thing I know, the listing was taken down with MC999 error and I was asked to get in touch with an eBay rep.

I did call them the next morning and inquired about the situation. Since I practically did not know what was going on with the listing. (I thought that my new account may have been linked with the suspended account).

The representative explained to me about the risks of selling a high valued item right off the back and that eBay wanted to be sure that this was something legit. He further, asked me to link my eBay account with a verified PayPal account. I already have the two linked but unfortunately I do not have a verified paypal account. I am still waiting for my LLC documentation to arrive, so I can use it for banking purposes.

The agent said that he will call me tomorrow (once the bank has been linked) and will see if he is able to remove the restriction.

I am afraid that my new account might get blocked (I do not know if it is only fear or what).

So my question is, should I go ahead and get myself a bank account under my name and use that with paypal or wait for my paperwork and use my business name. The paperwork is not due until the end of this month.

I just do wanna raise any red flags with any of this. I really want to get settled in and start selling again on eBay!!

Please help me!! :(

Sorry to hear that. If you already have a CC attached and verified?

Grab a VBA and you should be fine until you finish the LLC. It is very difficult to complete verification of PayPal in a day.

Personally, I would just start over again since your account is still very new. If I read your post correctly, you haven't added your bank yet since you're waiting on paperwork correct? Then you haven't really wasted anything important (except time). You can make a new account and start the account on a good note as opposed to trying to resurrect a brand new account with a blemish on it.

Whatever you decide to do, definitely wait longer to list items next time (the longer the better) and always go with a low risk item (an old book or something) for your first listing. It doesn't have to sell, it just needs to pass eBay's manual verification.

Hey, thanks for replying back

I was thinking the same about starting again with the whole process - but what about the address that I have used and the phone number on my ebay profile.

I specifically rented a UPS mailbox and got myself a vonage number. As for the phone number, I can get another number - but what about the Post box address? Can i use the same or do I need to change that as well??

Thank you! :)

I got one of those prepaid cards, but sadly paypal is not accepting those for verification :(

What is a VBA? or you meant DBA?????

Are DBA's not linked to your name and my social for banking purposes?

Virtual Bank Account (VBA); please refer to the guide or forum for more information about this.

Check the market place on the forum, you can find both VCC and VBA to get you going without burning a bank account.

Ah, well no you wouldn't be able to reuse the UPS mailbox on a new account - that's an easy way to get linked. Unfortunately you would need a new mailbox address. I know those are pretty expensive and it would be bad to let one of them go to waste, so I wish you luck with your account!

You cannot use anything you ever used before.

And you should not be listing items available in lots.

Several threads discuss what to sell and what not to sell on a new account.

Were these items brand new? used? name brand? electronics or cell phone items?

Just get the UPS store to assign you a different box number.
