If I Buyer paid for the item but the Seller sent Buyer a question about an important question before shipment and Buyer does not respond before my handling time then if I cancel the transaction using 'Buyer is unresponsive' and also fully refund the Buyer. Will this count as a Defect?

Also, Buyer paid on July 23rd and my handling time is 2 business days. I am worried that the Buyer will open a case against me anytime now and I will get a defect. Please help.

I would say if the item was out of stock.. Since that would be your fault.

Any cancellation that is due to,the seller will count as a defect

so if I open a cancellation request at day 40 and it end up going through and canceling the transaction (and returning my fees), that counts as a defect?

and we are limited on the amount this can happen?

it depends on what option you choose when you cancel the transaction

Not all cancellation will count as defect. I know that if you chose the option about buyer changed mind or bought my mistake is not a defect.

Out of stock or sold to someone else is a defect.

This refers to any transaction that you've canceled—either on eBay or PayPal—because you don't have the item anymore or you chose not to ship the item after it was sold

well what I have liked to do is submit a cancellation request as "other" category just before the 45 day mark. Buyers on average do not respond about 70% of the time, allowing me to get my seller fees back.

on my 300-600 dollar items, its a really nice trick

What if the Buyer is unresponsive after the Buyer bought the product and I have to ask them an important question before shipping?

the buyers had already paid for the item 40 days ago. And i would already have my money

but the cancellation request would go unanswered, and after a few days, you can close the "case" yourself and ebay refunds you the fees

looks like they caught on, as I saved myself thousands and thousands doing this

I do a UPI for 32 days. Automatic FVF credit to my account.

Just as a note - I have had the "pleasure" of few buyers reporting to eB my old attempts to cancel transactions to circumvent fees :) was just some testing of mine way back in the day...

prowakeskater- can you provide some examples of which count as a defect and which do not?

I have had to do quite a few- "buyer requested shipping to a country I dont ship to" cancellations lately. So many VI and PR buyers :( Needless to say Ive changed my settings... =}-

After the Buyer pays. How many after the Buyer pays can open a case? Let's say my handling policy is 2 business day but I ship it a week later. Can this Buyer open a case after the 2 days handling?

It's sad the way eB is set up - a buyer can open a case immediately if they are "douchey". Yes...your policy can be trumped :(

Buyers have been reported of opening cases within a few hours of listing closure.
