Will this Case go against me?

The buyer opened a case: Item doesn't match the description.

The case details:

The buyer says the item doesn't match the description.

The buyer chose "other" as the problem with the item.

Additional information:

"Item was listed as new but it was not new. Box was opened and the item was in used condition."

The buyer requested:

A refund. The refund amount includes the purchase price plus original shipping.

eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision.

Decision:

This case was decided in the buyer's favor. You won't have to reimburse your buyer for this transaction.

Comments:

The buyer returned the item without authorization and did not provide tracking information for the return. You don't need to do anything else.

The Buyer actually escalated the case to eBay support and said eBay will get back with me within 48 hours with a decision. However, it said if I reimburse the Buyer now, the case will be closed and I won't be held at fault. When I tried to reimburse the Buyer. It said this:

Bay Customer Support comments:

Since the eBay Money Back Guarantee only covers items purchased with PayPal, we decided not to issue the buyer a refund. You don't need to do anything else for this case.

Final decision:

This case was decided in the buyer's favor. Although, you won't have to reimburse your buyer for this transaction, the case will still be counted when determining your seller standing.

Transaction information:

Any remaining funds from this PayPal transaction are available. View PayPal transaction.

Case was against you the minute it was opened unless you can get eBay to rule in your favor. Good luck w/ that.

The day this case opened is the day I got 1 defect in USA region right? Since the item was sold to a US Buyer.

Ok. So I keep the funds that Buyer sent me and eBay won't reimburse the Buyer since Buyer did not send the item to me with a tracking #?

So why didn't the system let me reimburse the Buyer when it said I could?

Is it possible to get 2 defects in the same case?

it is possible to get 2 defects or more...

you have already said ebay reimbursed them, I have no clue why that happened, did you actually get the item back?

also they control everything and then say the case counts against you...sick of cases for straight up returns now being SNAD, so you cannot even deduct your shipping from the price, and they all differ, sometimes there is a partial refund where buyer agrees, sometimes it is full, money is always held....and it is often buyer remorse and they want all their money back, and for you not to refuse them, so they say there is a fault. I got a snad recently for no care label on a used item (it was not cut out, it did not come with a label obviously) there was no mention of label on auction either way....

IF decision was made on one defect, you wouldn't be penalized twice

Re: Will this Case go against me?

You can get two defects (i.e. case opened for item not as described and negative feedback) but it only counts against your account as 1 defect if its from the same transaction. That was one of the positive outcomes of this latest update.

As far as reimbursing the buyer- why? eBay already did. Keep in mind you only get a few of those eBay reimbursements before they close your account. Try to take care of it before eBay does next time.

1. Item not as described is a defect
2. Case was decided by eBay is a defect

The safest way to guess is anytime there is a case or problem it'll count as a defect even when eBay says otherwise.

It's some times best to just be on your toes and be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

I found out from PayPal that I actually reimbursed the Buyer in full amount.

eBay did not reimburse them.

My supplier is looking for the item. Buyer did not ship with a tracking #.

The case itself is a defect to begin with. The other decisions of the case will not cause any more Defects?

I found out that I actually paid the Buyer in full since I agreed to reimburse the Buyer before eBay would made the decision in 48 hours.

Since my account opened in 2000. None of the cases have gone against me. I see that this was first one against me and it counted in USA and Global. So 1 case out thousands went not resolved. Why?

eBay would just close the account out of nowhere for this? Won't they give a warning?

I found that I really reimbursed the Buyer from PayPal so that closed the case immediately.

If a Buyer buys multiple quantities with one transaction. Will this count as 1 transaction or multiple transactions helping my Defect Rate?

I think I saw this question on another thread - if a buyer spaces out the feedback weekly as opposed to all in one shot, then the effect on the account is felt

employeea1 07-31-2014 02:56 PM

Re: Will this Case go against me?

I think it goes by transaction not by the buyer. So if the buyer does multiple single item transactions, they can hit you more than once. On the other hand, if the buyer orders multiple items in same single transaction, they can only hit you once.
