Obviously when you buy eb/pp accounts, you have to change the bank acct, but I'd also want to change/add a new debit card/phone number, email address, etc. Is it 'safe' to do all at once? anyone have any experience with this?

Why do yiu want to change so many things?
I've not bought or sold an account but from what I gather you add your own bank account, and you should change your passwords.
If you change everything you'l likely get limited!

I have not done it all at once - I do like to space changes/additions out - that's just my approach

tia | The best thing to do would be to ask the account seller you want to buy from.
They would be in the best position to advise you how to run an account they have sold you

When I've purchased accounts from sellers, I have slowly changed each piece of information. By slowly, I mean change just one piece of info and wait a week or so and then change the next piece of info.
Think of it this way...a normal user doesn't change every piece of information all at once. I can't think of a person that gets a new email addy/phone #/cc # at the same time. That looks fishy to begin with.
Changing that many details all at once certainly looks like the account is being hijacked. It's best to take it slow and stay under the radar.

I agree, just gradually change the info..
Do change the passwords straight away though!

I so agree about the password change... it only makes sense right? I'm surprised most don't do it.
I'd change the email address next, then bank info, then CC.
THe last things I'd change are the phone number and address. Heck, maybe not even the address.

thanks everyone!
so,,,,
1. change pw for eb/pp right away.
2. change pw for email account right away - forward the email to my personal email. that way, no changes are made on the eb/pp side.
3. Add additional/new bank account & cc a few days later at the same time - make primary.
4. Add additional/new phone number a few days later - make it primary.
5. Address won't change ever.
thoughts? comments?

tia | Never.
Spread the changes.
Any change flags the account.
If possible avoid 'deleting' bank accounts. Add new ones

Yes, I would go very slowly on anything you don't NEED ( ie bank account) to change to do business...I bought 2 accounts 6 months ago and have never changed the passwords...I don't think the person who sold them to me is going to hack me! lol. Anyway, all changes can be seen as red flags by ebay, so patience will help you!

I also agree. Change passwords immediately. I would also change the actual email address pretty quick as well. Not saying a seller would rip you off, but that would make it harder for them if they got back into your email with the security questions and such.
Change everything else gradually every week or so.

VERY good point from GB about adding info in regards to Bank / CC , etc rather than deleting the old one.
I will remember this too.
the NAME on file though can't be changed. I don't think PP allows a transfer of account from one person to another.

Transfer of account from one person to another is doable but takes a TON of documentation - PP looks at this as very high risk

It should be a given nowdays to CHANGE passwords.
In light of paypal's approach to accounts, it should ALSO be a given to keep an active phone number.
Purchasers of accounts should read over the forum to see what happens from either paypal/ebay.
Avoid allowing their purchased accounts falling.
Be circumspect about deleting a bank account. | The Following User Says Thank You to GreenBean For This Useful Post: | |

That way I know it would be difficult for someone to break into the account if they got a hold of the answers to the security questions given to me at purchase.

Also don't forget to change/add a mobile PIN. Another layer of protection to protect you the consumer.
