Will eBay Kill My 3rd Linked Business?
 

eBay ended 2 of my 3 businesses about a month ago because I failed to ship on time on one of them. I got sick and was too stupid to take my auctions down - thinking that "tomorrow" I would feel better and could ship everything out. Didn't happen.

They also said at that time they would end all my businesses even though the third one has 100% feedback and a Top Rated seller status. It is a drop-ship business so I don't have to ship anything.

Of course all the businesses are linked. That was before I learned that's a no no here on this site and from the book "eBay Stealth."

But . . . so far that 3rd business is still alive! Why they haven't ended it is causing me to hope that they might not. But is that just wishful thinking? It's pretty nerve racking waiting for that shoe to drop.

Is it certain they will discover their "mistake" and end it at any time?

Is it possible they have decided to let it live because of its record despite the fact it is linked to two businesses they have already killed?

Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

I sure would like to hear your thoughts!

It's wishful thinking.. you may be okay for now but history has shown that doesn't last long.

If I were you I would get to work on backup accounts and start spreading out your sales.,

Anything that is linked to an account that's already suspended will get suspended soon or later. There really is no IFs .

The smartest and best thing to do right now is create your 4th + account and make sure that you follow the guidelines in Aspkin's book so that you don't end up linking the new account with the older ones and start building it up asap.

The 3rd account that's up and running, I suggest you use it lightly while it's still there or none at all. You don't want to get suspended all of a sudden after a lot of sales and have your funds held by PP.

I would agree that you should start setting up stealth accounts. But I wouldn't simply give up on the old account.

Start some stealth accounts as quickly as possible and start building them. Hopefully, if the other account is shut down, you will have some backups.

But keep selling on the old account. Just be sure to regularly withdraw money from PayPal, so if the account DOES get shut down, you won't have a fortune locked up for 180 days. This account has TRS status, so I see no point in wasting it.

I agree with you. All I'm worried is if say you become comfortable selling on the old account and you accumulate lots of sales, when the PP acc becomes limited, a big amount of funds will be stuck.

That's why I told him to keep using it but with discretion.

eBay and Paypal are big companies with poor communication internally, But unfortunately they do eventually catch up in situations like you are in and suspend the third account.

Sometimes it takes minutes, days weeks or even several months

The important thing is to be proactive and start making more stealth accounts now , while your one business is still active,

Because each account takes 3 months before you can get limit raises, and paypal holds lifted

They do favor TRS accounts, and it's probably just given a higher security clearance operated purely by software , so hopefully you can operate for a good amount of time

But don't get comfortable thinking that your going to be ok ,,operate like your on borrowed time, only leave enough funds to cover fees , withdrawal the rest and plan ahead, if you make accounts today, you still can make it for that holiday rush

Think of ebay and paypal like a spiderweb when you get accounts linked.

Once you're attached, you cannot get away and are waiting to be devoured.

Really, really good advice from each one of you! And I'm going to take it.

I've heard that accounts registered before 2009 are "Grandfathered in" and don't have the sales restrictions that are in place now.

1. Is that true?

2. Would it make any sense to buy some accounts that were registered before 2009?

Hmmm... this was discussed a year or 2 ago and I believe that those accounts are no longer "safe".

I had an acc from 2007, fired it up in 2011 and it got 10/$1000

I hope there's someone here who is more in tune and can give more details to this question, but for now, just tread carefully and treat it like any current accounts
