Gift Cards For ebay and Paypal

I was informed today that you cannot reload a Gift Card (Visa/mastercard) So how are you suppose to use these on ebay and on paypal? HELP

aspkin 07-19-2007 12:15 PM

They're meant for the initial setup. After that with eBay, you're able to pay your balance from your Paypal account via the "One Time Payment" option.

You don't have to use paypal to pay, just click on other payment method and pay directly with you pre-paid card; best not to even get paypal involved at all.

the fabricator , Thank you for your advice and I am understanding what you are saying but I guess what my question is, is how are my people going to pay for there auctions???? Please reply back and Thanks again.....

Ebay send you an invoice every month for its fees.
you can buy them using your gift card or prepaid card that you used during the registration for the seller account by choosing other payment link that will direct you to another page from where you can choose between Paypal or Credit card or bank account.
thx

I am in the united states, Does this make a difference???

Chris Hanson 07-23-2007 03:16 PM

That doesnt make a difference in your case. The thing is is that you broke Ebay policies by ending a listing for a buyer. The buyer was probably an Ebay snitch and they turned you in

Chris, thanks for getting back with me I really did not know this was against ebay policy but was kinda guessed that was the reason, well we learn from our mistakes....

Anyway I did set up another account with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and I am still trying to set up a merchant account.. If you can help me in anyway please get back with me asap....:(

Just an FYI... you may want to reconsider using Paypal for paying ebay fees in light of PayPal sharing ALL their information w ebay.

But this is more worrisome:
I recently tried to open a FedEx account with a prepaid card (2 different ones, actually). Although the prepaids worked everywhere, including ebay, Fedex claimed the card could not be authorized. Using a real credit card worked fine for the FedEx acct. These were $100 gift cards, so I don't think FedEx was doing a trial authorization for more than $100, to fail them.

This begs the question:
Does a credit card provider communicate an extra bit (literally, a binary bit) of information when veryfing a card, which says this is a prepaid card, or a card with certain limitations?

The ramifications are serious.
If the majority of all new account registrations are done with a real credit card, and folks generally accept eBay's urge to use the bank account for seller fees, than only 1% or less of registrations may show a "limited type" card, combined with an insistence on using the CARD for future eBay fees.

If that's not a flag, then I don't know what is.

And ebay knows this is a methodology suspendees are forced to use...
And eBay has a T&S team currently bent on using statistics like
"1% of all sellers cause 35% of all mischief", and
"2% of sellers provide such a poor experience for the rest, they need to be cleaned out"

I'm afraid that if you register with the scenario above (your only choice, really), you will forever be under the microscope and scrutinized by T&S thugs.

Just food for thought.
