Can you use the AOL client on Existing Dial-Up Connection?

George had a great idea on using the aol client email IP, but will this work on dial-up too? I know many of you use broadband, so this may be a difficult one to answer. I'm sure not going to be the guinea pig! :D But if anyone else has used aol successfully with your current dial-up connection and found it does indeed mask your true IP, or that it definately doesn't, please share :)

Im 99% sure you cannot use aol's client on an existing dialup connection. The 1% unsure is probably if you got a router and had an external dial up modem connect to the router. When you select in AOL how to connect and you select your internal modem it automatically thinks to dial AOL and of course then you get disconnected after a bit because you don't have an aol dial up account.

By the way I signed up for a 45 day trial of AOL dialup, so this is how I came to this conclusion.

Hmm, well in that case, I guess I'm open to a trial dial membership with aol just to get the account started. I assume it's more important when you're just establishing the account that the IP be masked than it would be after you've been open a month or two and have some legitimate feedback?

Of course, it may be that none of this is going to make any difference. I've not actually been banned for a location issue before...of course I've also never tried to list like the account is in another country either...what do you think?...about the choice of internet, not the location. I'm already set on that.

I think they do random checks on members at all times. If any little thing is tripped if your ip isn't masked you could be suspended. So many variables we cannot account for.
