New to the Forum, Intro and Details

Hello, my fellow eBayers from around the globe. I'm new here and am interested in the site. Name is Misha and I am a relatively new seller (2 years) on eBay. I have had Top Rated seller status less than a year ago and am a pretty good seller. But recently, I was given the dreaded "below standard" rating on my account and as of now I can only list 35 items with a $1000 limit and up to a 21 day fund hold on Paypal. This is absurd as I have a feedback score of %99.7 and only 1 bad rating in 18 months. I understand that eBay disapproves of sellers who get cases that are closed by eBay in the buyers favor. I have had 3 cases opened because my buyers did not receive their items, I was unable to ship them or communicate with them. This left me with a %1.16 defect rate based on 285 items I sold in 12 months. I'm pretty much screwed because the defect rate is only 0.30%. I'd have to nearly double my sales to get it to that point, if my math is correct (lol). I would like to know what will happen from this point on, will eBay suspend my account further or fully if I don't get my ratings up?
In the case that they do, what options do I have as an American seller?

Perhaps this isn't the right place to be speaking of this, IDK. Please advise.

Thanks!

This is not what you want to hear, but your account is doomed. The indefinite ban will come sooner rather than later. With those figures you can not get back in the black.

The good news is you have found the right place to be able to create new ebay accounts and start selling again.

The stealth guide provides all the basics and the forum provides a deeper knowledge.

Good luck

What happened you could not ship or communicate?

That's the first rule that ebay demands of its sellers.

They take no prisoners and your record is of no consequence to them.

Now you know the consequences.

Look at making stealth accounts, and ensure to try to give stellar service.

Good Luck.

Welcome to the forums.

Sell low end items with free fast shipping to get your feedback up. Work on this while making backup stealths

Rsot, with those numbers their is no chance of saving the account. Its impossible.

May aswell concentrate her time on making new accounts and learning stealth.

Not really given any hope - if OP wants to keep operating with this defunct account, that's what needs to be done. Limits reduction is steps away from ending the account but PERHAPS in time, OP can negotiate a full account reinstatement. True, chances are low but it has been done

Went to jail from some bogus charges for about a month. Didn't know I'd be in jail so I didn't do anything to my account and left some items up. Bad bad mistake. Three cases got opened that pretty much did me over :pout: .

There maybe hope though if what some are saying is true. Perhaps eBay will deal kindly with me.

Rotten luck.

Start looking forwards to new stealth account(s).

Take this as a lesson learned and use stealth to beat ebay.

What do you think ebay are going to say ( or think) if you give the above reasons for non-delivery? Have a think about their likelihood of being prejuiced. They specialize in that.

Never assume that eBay will deal kindly - they are not known for their kindness and caring...

Okay. I got on the phone with them yesterday and they said that as long as I improve, they're not going to further limit or suspend my account.

Been looking at eBay Stealth, seems complicated. Already I've got ppl trying to sell me new accounts. Is it easier to use stealth accounts or just buy another one?

I hope that happens.

ebay lie.

Be prepared for that.

Not uncommon for sellers to be told this one week and suspended within months.

Yeah I kinda figured that. Read a lot of those kinds of comments on eBay's forum (which they seem not to give a s about).

I just don't get why eBay expects sellers to be so perfect as if they were a huge chain business (like Best Buy). As for as I know eBay never ran like that, it was always for personal sellers.

Big change of game plans now.

The personal sellers do not count.

They should let ppl know who they're buying from, if its from a personal seller or a larger business and then judge their ratings by that. It shouldn't be that both have the same standards, and they should expect that they don't (neither should the buyers).

You'll get below standard and they'll drop your limits. If you can continue to sell slowly, while operating a stealth, that's ideal. If it's your personal account, you can call in and raise selling limits in about 60 days when you feel like you have enough sales/feedback. Careful with the open cases, you might want to increase your shipping time, so if it hasn't reached X amount of days, ebay won't automatically trigger an open case for you.

Why?

Someone buying from someone wants quality service no matter who they are buying from.

Big sellers have tons of extra hoops and rings and extra standards to go by already. About the only thing we have for us as a big seller is better ebay support, shorter hold times on the phone and faster results for buyer remorse.
Other than that, we have a series of other things to worry about and standards to uphold.
In a lot of ways I like my stealth accounts better for this reason. It is a bit of the wild west compared to running a big account.
