Can I make a new account using a username similar to my suspended username?

Hi everyone :)
My account was suspended over a month ago, and after sending 4 faxes and visiting the Ebay office myself, I have given up on reinstatement of my account.

My question is - if I open a new account with a similar username as my previously suspended name (which is the name of my company), do I have a chance of getting caught?
Or do ebay only go real name, email address, IP, etc?

newguy121 11-29-2008 05:36 PM

Um yes. The object is to make yourself unlike your suspended account in everyway.

Thanks for the reply.

If I was to not have any mention of my company name either in my new username and listings, would it be a bad idea to have my domain (www.mycompanyname.com.au) forwarded to my Ebay store?

Is there any way I could be caught even if the domain forwarding is not run through Ebay?

You need to buy the guide. Your questions all are answered in there. Yes, anything linking you to the old account will be found out eventually.

newguy is right. Not only do you need to have a new name, you need to deal with IP,cookies and many other things. You are only slowing yourself down by thinking you can use anything relating to the suspended account. Two recommendations, read the forum more and buy ebayStealth.
Also go to your User CP and put your location under the profile. We need to know that as answers vary between the various countries.

But dont get discouraged. It took me about three months to catch up... Reading, reading, reading, asking, reading, thinking, reading, reading, trying, reading, sweating, reading, thinking, doing.....

Thanks for your help everyone :)

I've been reading through the threads over the past few days, so I know about all the cookies, IP, etc. I'm buying a new laptop & getting a new internet connection.. I'm even legally changing my name.

My old ebay account didn't have domain forwarding to my store.. I've just registered the domain a few days ago, so I thought I would be able to get away with it :(

I still can't believe there are hundreds of people who have to go to these extreme measures.. Grrrrrr

Has anyone else besides me, gone into the Ebay office in person?

U actually went into the eBay office. I would of been scared of them releasing the rabies infected bloodhounds. :p

gabriella 11-29-2008 11:31 PM

Hahah I was actually worried about them myself :P

I had to sneak in the lift with a worker from the building who kindly swiped his card for me to get up to their office level ;) ;)

and...

what did you do when you got there?

(please say, unleashed the multiple plagues of Egypt)

sycore 11-30-2008 03:42 PM

You should have kicked the crap out of all them nerds as soon as you got in there:)

Lol!

Well I'm only 22 and tiny, so I tried to walk in all big and tough with a mean look on my face lol

I said "I'm here in regards to a suspended account. I want to drop off my documents to you..." And the receptionist looked at me all confused.
I was like "I have sent THREE faxes and supposedly none of them 'were received' " and she had a look on her face like she was trying not to laugh.. Probably because she knew it was bull sh*t. That p*ssed me off so much more.

I asked to speak to someone, but apparently no one was there. When I asked what time someone would be back , she replied "No one is coming back today" Yeah right! This was on a Thursday morning. What? Is she the only staff member working at Ebay Australia? Pfft!

Then she said she would definitely pass on my documents, and she asked for a contact number and said someone would be in touch..

When I got home I wrote Ebay a message telling them it was now impossible for them to say my fax was not received as I delivered it to the Ebay office in person & that I wanted my request for reinstatement processed asap.

A few hours I got this reply:

I've reviewed your account and still did not find a copy of a signed
Request for Reinstatement form that we need. Given the amount of time
that has passed, I recommend you send in this document again, either by
fax or mail. The information can be found at:

eBay.com.au - Community Watch Request for Reinstatement

Since the correct channel to provide these documents is by fax or mail
at the number/address provided in the above link, a trip to any office
is not necessary."

ARGHHH I can't even describe my frustration :(
