More detail required on eBay app/iphone

Hello all,

I read a couple of threads on the use of the eBay app to access via iPhone and the majority of you say DONT!!!!!!!

Could someone explain what the issue is with it please? I'm not as tech savvy as most of you so please do it in laymans terms!

Surely the iPhone doesn't use a static ip to access the app? I'm confused as to why it would link.

What about accessing via the web rather than app??

Finally. Am I all good to access using 'atomic web' app mentioned in another thread? I assume this is for web access only and NOT app access??

I will be using one stealth account for listing minimal items until the limits are lifted and even then no more than 20-40 items per month

Thanks

Read the TOS when you install if you want to blow your own mind on what they collect.

One simple factor is tracking of UDID. Whatever account you login to on that phone is now attached to that phone's UDID permanently.

There are many more issues happening here, but do you get the idea?

Ebay/PayPal apps are real no no's, all the forum members you have read about in this forum who are saying the apps cannot be used are saying that for a reason, because they have been there, seen it, done it, and lost those accounts. The exactly reasoning behind that reasoning is probably going to be to 'techy' for you, but IMEI numbers on iPhones can be read by the platforms and those codes cannot of course be wiped by factory resets as they are unique to each iPhone, thus only happens with iPhones, hope that explains it better for you.

And if I have a fresh brand new phone?

You can use the app if the phone is brand new and you only plan on using one ebay/paypal account.

If you have more than one account then never use the app.

Using the web browser is fine if you apply all stealth principles.

App collects as much info about your phone, as it can. IMEI, UUID - everything. So once you use your phone + app for 1 account, you can't use it anymore for any account, or you will be linked. It is an app, apps can collect almost any info about your device, compared to EB website, that is quite limited in collected deep technical info about your device. So if you want to use the app, you need 1 phone per each account. And you can not use phone for any other account, if the first account that was set up on that phone was suspended.

Thanks, makes sense now.

I would just stick to using the browser.
