a tale of woe

I am also a seller that has dealt on ebay for many years with a current 99%+ feedback rating (on hundreds of sales since 2011) and an easy return policy. In my day job, I am an ad executive. I tried my best to deliver on client expectation and deal almost exclusively in vintage or used goods. That said, working with used goods always leaves you with greater issues of missing buyer expectations post sale, hence my policy of easy return for most items.

Since ebay started their "hassle free returns" program, ive noticed my seller dashboard rating drop due to the impact of buyers who press "item not as described" to return, in many instances I accepted the return w a note letting the buyer know that we don't believe the item was misrepresented. However, there is no actual recourse for this type of back end feedback which resulted in me losing my seller status and a lowering of my seller levels to that of a new seller.

I also lost tens of thousands of dollars worth of listings I put hours of my time and considerable investment into because my selling limits are such I cannot list new items. This did not impede eBay from charging my recurrent fees for a store I no longer have, right after they lowered my selling limit. They also kept me on the phone shuttling back and forth between departments for an explanation for why accomodating returns without taking issue w a buyer every single time they put in a reason I didnt agree with while allowing no due process for sellers to argue back without pointing fingers at the buyer should allow ebay to personally impact my livelihood to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars because they can and they will without any due diligence or process.

I plan to file a lawsuit against eBay and will write to media outlets to ensure would be sellers know of the potential liabilities they face based on ebays discriminatory and arbitrary policies that frankly change so often no one with a full time job on ebay or otherwise (I have both) could follow.
