eBay linked an old suspended account to my new one
 

Hi Everyone

Basically, around 5 years ago (when I was younger and less wiser) I was selling stuff on ebay AU that resulted in my account being suspended indefinitely due to Vero reasons.
In the last 6 months I've started selling on ebay again (no branded stuff this time).
When setting up my new account I followed all the rules and used all different details. However ebay has managed to link this old account to my new one.
They haven't restricted or suspended my new account and when talking to the rep on the phone, they suggested that I just keep listing items on the new account until I reach my selling limit then they added that I need to email ebay and request to have my old account reinstated.
This is the part that scares me, I want to do the right thing and reinstate the old account (even if its just to close it) but I'm worried it will put my new account in the spotlight and cause ebay will suspend this one too.
I've read that ebay are more likely to lift suspensions after 12 months, the account in question is about 5 years old.
I guess my question is, has anyone successfully done this? and if you were in my situation what would you do?

It is a curiosity to me why eBay allows you to continue selling when they link your current account to the old one. Did they send you an email about this, or it is what you are believing?

Every account has a selling limit and once you reach that limit, you have to wait til the next month to have your selling quota automatically reset. If you want to increase the limit, call eBay every 30 days to ask them to increase it.

As long as your current account are still allowed to sell, don't ever tell eBay about your old account. Forget it, consider you never had that account. It's the safest way.

I had a similiar situation, before I learned about ebay stealth. Account that was suspended 5 years prior. At one point, I noticed that ebay linked the two accounts, but nothing happened. I called in, and the women said to just keep selling on this account. I talked to her about my other account and why it was suspended. Even told her that I was worried it would suspend this one too, and she said it wouldn't. I asked to reinstate the other account. But they wouldn't, unless I showed them invoices for the products I was selling TEN YEARS AGO.

How did they link you is the question. If you used stealth methods correctly, they should not have linked you.

I've had this exact same problem. I chalked it up using the same Home IP address.

How can I use a VPN service in the UK that is good for ebay? Can anyone recommend?
