Default IP Help????

Hey all....

So, I've been selling stealth for sometime now and have had great success at it, fingers crossed - don't want to jinx myself! The one thing that I feel like an idiot about is IP changing. It is such a time consuming task for me and I want to figure out a better method. I don't have time waiting for new IP's all the time.

Currently, I use verizon and I manually release the IP and renew it. Sometimes I'm lucky and I get a new IP assigned quickly but most of the time I have to try and try again for a new IP to be assigned. Sometimes I have to reboot my router and that works and other times it won't change at all and I'm forced to shut down my router for hours waiting for a new IP to be assigned. This is not a way to use my time wisely!!!

I've read in the past about different ways I can automatically change my IP or something along those lines. I don't understand the Static IP and whatever other terms used? I feel that I am not an idiot when it comes to using my PC but I am totally intimidated by this IP thing! I cannot wrap my mind around it. I don't know if I'm making a bigger deal than needed but I would love it if someone out there would take the time to explain to me in non-PC terms how to do this more efficiently. And what my options are and/or what the best option is when it comes to stealth.

The other thing that makes it difficult for me to understand the correct method is my husband and I both have our computers networked. I close my browsers on my PC and reset the IP using his PC, as his is the main PC. Again, we use verizon with a wireless setup. Once I update the IP on his PC it updates on my PC and were good to go. I control all the IP changing and my hubby knows to ask me before logging onto ebay to ensure he's logging on the correct account. We have it down and it works well except for time consuming IP changing problem. I was worried and confused with using both PC's trying to figure out a new improved IP changing method.

PC geniuses, please help!!!! I appreciate your time and help! Have a wonderful day! Thanks again everyone!!!

You can try other methods such as:
1. Mifi/Dongle (Verizon, AT&T, etc)
2. Phone Tethering (Using a smartphone as your internet)
3. Dial-Up
4. VPN (24vc.com is an excellent place)

Static IP means that the IP never changes, no matter what you do it will remain the same forever.

Dynamic IP: IP can be changed BUT it's not guaranteed to change to a new IP. Your Internet Provider decides whether you get a new IP or not.

IF your both on Ebay and your running Stealths I would recommend that both computers have separate IP's. Are you and your husband both running Stealth Accounts, or just you?

Thank you so much for your response!

"IF your both on Ebay and your running Stealths I would recommend that both computers have separate IP's. Are you and your husband both running Stealth Accounts, or just you?"

We both log onto the same stealth accounts. I change the IP on his PC, which in turn updates my PC since were networked. I then log onto whichever user account for the stealth I want to work on. My hubby only logs onto the same user account on his pc. So, we both can be logged onto ebay at the same time, same user account, same eBay Stealth account and same IP. My hubby will not log onto ebay without asking me which account were currently on so that he never accidentally logs onto the wrong stealth account.

So, you would never want a Static IP using stealth if it always stays the same, correct?

I was just looking into the Verizon 3G MIFI. Would this update the IP on both husband's and my PC? I think things wouldn't be so confusing for me if I didn't have two PC's running.

Please help me get this figured out.... Thanks again!

I have my accounts split into 4 groups. My main account on its own on my pc that i use for my websites also with its own broadband connection.
4 high limit accounts on a seperate laptop on a second phoneline/broadband connection that just gets reset.

Separate laptop and mifi for my 100 items a month accounts and seperate laptop+phone tethering for my little accounts that I'm just waiting for the holds to drop to dabble in some vero lol.
I hardly ever check IPs personally, only once every few days. Checked them religiously for 2-3 months and they never got the same IP so decided it was a waste of time lol

The OP is none-tech savvy, try to keep the advice in the simplest form.

Not even gonna read all that.

BUY A PRE PAD MOBILE HOT SPOT. You get a dynamic IP each time you turn it off. Will cost you 35 dollars a month.
