Account suspended for 12 months... VeRO High Score?
THE STORY:
So I used my personal account (opened in 1998) for this. I knew nothing about VeRO or stealth or anything really. My account was unlimited. Or so it seemed. I started dropshipping from a single source. June I had about 150 listings and sold 10 or so items. July I had 1200 listings and sold about 50 items (ebay gave me a promo for 1000 free listings). August, I upgrade to store and scaled to 10,000+ of items listed. We got the ebay call. I sweet talked the rep and everything seemed fine. But I kept getting a VeRO image copyright violation every few days. There was nothing I could really do about it since I had no way to know out of 10,000 items which ones would get hit so I just kept fulfilling orders.
In total over 27 days (end of July to end of August), 98 listings were removed for image copyrights across 14 VeRO violations. We were doing 5-6 sales per day. Then all of a sudden I login to my account and SUSPENDED.
I call ebay and they said what I already knew. We suspended your account because of the image copyrights.... FOR 12 MONTHS!!!
I had 100% feedback. I had received 45 5-STAR DSRs since I started. I had no negative feedback. I had no open issues.
I think had I filtered a couple of these brands out I would probably still hear my phone going cha-ching every couple hours. I have a model that works but now I dont have an account that can scale back to 10,000.
My Questions To You
1) Any idea what algorithm they use to catch the photos? Like is there some way they can test that a photo is 99% the same? If so I'd like to see that.
2) I've been all over this forum. Is there not a blacklist of VeRO items/brands anywhere?
3) Any comments, suggestions, reactions?? Lets hear them. |
