First time seller suspended 4 fitness DVD set
 

I don't have a business, but did have an account with ebay for 10 years. I tried to sell my first item in 10 years (a fitness DVD set) and they suspended my account indefinitely. I listed it wrong, and i was flagged for "Authenticity", So I offered to send in the item. Which is a fitness DVD set still in box, I got for Christmas and never used- brand new! They asked me not send it in to clear up the confusion and there is nothing I can do. Additionally, my information sit's in EBay's system forever in limbo. I cannot believe it!!I never did anything wrong, nor did ebay contacted me when they did their investigation. I can understand if I tried to sell a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ item or something illegal, but it is a 8 set fitness workout DVD set. I was not given a chance to prove my mistake was not an attempt to defraud Ebay or a customer. Not fair!

DVDs are a big issue due to counterfeits on any account. New accounts are an easy bot target due to so many people trying to pass off phakes. (Not saying your set was, but they wont give it a change to explain)

So, if you are just buying, you can open another account right now and go back to usual.

Sellers accounts are when it gets tricky.

Sorry to hear that you were very unlucky on your fist item to sell being one of the deadliest to an ebay account.

Just got it for Christmas? Then you could have returned it. Why not do that? Hmmmm

Well look at it this way, that account had no trust and status with eBay, so once you start some stealth accounts and you'll be in the same position you were when you started that account. This time you're going to want to sell low-risk items for 90 days... DVD box sets / fitness DVDs are extremely high risk.

there are a few heavily monitored sets, by their own rights owners....

Welcome to the forums OP - was it one of those Beach Body brands? Insanity and such? Those are very heavily punished :(

They are the sort of times you just cannot sell on eBay. They really really police them

Their bots assume that you are selling counterfeits...

Never heard of a permanent ban for for listing one item with no prior history!
Maybe Ebay are fully against people getting fit

If you are selling Workout vids on a new account and it is the first item, then they will almost definitely give you an indefinite suspension, no warnings.

Several years ago I bought a P90X boxed set from eB and it was definitely phake because the literature that accompanied the DVDs had so many grammatical errors it was difficult to read. The DVDs were "okay" but would skip and do funky things (fuzzy, no volume, etc.) in places. I contacted the seller and they refunded my money and did not ask for a return of the DVDs. What they sent was really useless but I did not report them to eB. I assumed someone else would.

The workout DVD sets are probably among the most counterfeited items out there. P90X, Shaun Insanity, Beach Body, etc. are all highly counterfeited. Same thing with popular box sets of DVD's that are expensive, such as Star Trek series, NCIS, etc. Also, the classic animated Disney movies. In order to sell these types on movies safely, you must have a verifiable account with an authorized distributor and be able to produce invoices from them for the amount of product you have sold. As far as the fitness DVD's that are sold through infomercials, there is NO safe way to sell those, since most of them are not distributed to stores.

Now, the next question I always get is when someone wants to know why it is that OTHER SELLERS can still sell them? The fact is, some accounts get suspended and some don't. Is it fair? No, of course not. But that is the way eBay works. You cannot change it. You can report those other sellers until you are blue in the face and they will STILL be selling. eBay will get them sooner or later, but this just wasn't their bad month, it was yours.

On ebay com, selling specific DVDs will be ban time.

Will selling used/authentic CDs on a new account ban you too? Just wondering....
