How long after not paying your bill will ebay wait before suspending you?

Thoughts??

Although some forum members may have a different story....here is my experience. I created an new anonymous account with the ASPKIN method. eBay attempts to charge my simon visa account, it is declined, they send me an email immediately saying I need to update my credit/debit info and that as a courtesy they will attempt a second charge to said declined card in 3-5 days. 4 days later, they attempt a second charge, it is declined of course, and eBay immediately limits my account. No more selling or bidding....AND I must verify my phone number. I attempted a one time payment of just $20 on a past due balance of $140 to see if a small payment may grant me access again, nope. had to pay the entire invoice amount to get the account unlimited again.

Some one on this forum says that you can go 6-9 months without paying eBay, that information is incorrect or outdated. It only took them 4 days past due to limit me. Good Luck!

That's something new then. Just make sure to pay you bill while you're selling and you shouldn't have a problem. This can be done as a one time payment in your seller options.

Ballsack 08-16-2007 10:13 PM

Anotherguy, I'm not talking about being limited but rather being NARUd. Also does anyone know if making a one time payment of one dollar will buy me any extra time? :)

JackNoMore 08-17-2007 04:54 PM

Usually, if you make the payment of the past due (think of it like any other bill), they'll let you slide. Of course this all depends on how long you've been a member and your reputation. Basically, how much they trust you. If you have major red flags, they'll probably be a little less forgiving.

With all of the debate on what gift cards may or may not work when paying eb fees, what are the pros & cons of setting up a bank account and paying the fees that way? If I recall, all that is required is to provide eb the routing number and account number of your checking account. I'm assuming charges will debited even if the eb account name is different than your checking account name? Am I missing something?

ebaykilla 09-04-2007 12:33 PM

Is the one time payment option still good to use Aspkin?

Have we determined with any amount of certainty that all that is needed to use a bank account with eithe EB and/or PP is a vaild routing number and account number?

If so I could create EB and PP accounts under my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name "Sam Jones" and then using the BA info of "Jane Smith". I just recently got thrown to a PP "add a bank account" page and all it asked for was the acct and routing #'s. But then they already have "my info" on file. Do they check that info when verifying the BA #'s?

ebayisanecessaryevil 09-04-2007 06:00 PM

So you don't get the EBI notices and get your account put on hold after 60 days of non-payment? About how much do you run up in bills typically?

ebayisanecessaryevil 09-04-2007 06:54 PM

Impressive!!!

ebayisanecessaryevil 09-04-2007 08:05 PM

I agree why pay when you're going to lose the account anyway.

And I envy your luck :D

JackNoMore 09-04-2007 08:26 PM

What the...?

Modee--At the risk of public ridicule, what do you mean by "the first payment of just a few dollars"? Are you talking about making a small payment at the very beginning and then never again?? If so, how the heck do you pull that off?? Unless of course you're already planning on cutting bait around 60 days anyway regardless if it's cancelled or not. :p

GD!!! Mighty impressive...and ballsy might I add.

I may test your tactic out on one of my accounts.

LongMan 09-05-2007 08:25 AM

Seriously Modee, how have you not been suspended for non-payment, bravo!

Don't you worry about them maybe passing it on to a collections agency?

JackNoMore 09-05-2007 08:42 AM

Modee - So have you layed off the starting new accounts with the high dollar items as you used to do? You may start off super low to get bidding going but the final value fees have to be pretty hefty for those, most likely way over $10.

I don't know. Personally, if everything's going smoothly and there's been absolutely no sign of oncoming trouble, why start all over again? That feedback has to count for something and personally, I'd like to create a somewhat viable, long running business that I can use to supplement my (hopefully coming soon) income offsite. Wouldn't the word of mouth advertising and referrals you could generate be worth paying a few few fees now and then?

Of course, I guess it depends on how much those fees are I suppose. It might be worth it to cut bait rather than pay at some point. If you're constantly walking the line and selling high risk merchandise even more so.

whome 09-05-2007 11:02 AM

So much for trying out Modee's tactic. Woke up this morning and 3 of my 4 accounts are on hold (not suspended) for non-payment. Just 1 month past due. I expect my fourth to join them if not paid in the next couple of days.

anotherebayhater 09-05-2007 02:54 PM

making the first payment and no more and not getting at least blocked from listing makes no since.???

yoko07 09-05-2007 03:34 PM

lol that is impressive. But maybe he has an aged ebay account. Something like that, either way it's a fluke. I'm going to risk it and try it out. And whome as well as other people with like more than 4 ebay accounts, how many freaking credit cards do you have lol?

anotherebayhater 09-05-2007 04:58 PM

hee hee hee i ahve them taped my cards in a notebook to the corresponding accts page otherwise id be in CC hell LOL
