How to deal with difficult buyer

I sold a $0.99 cable to guy who claimed that the cable was never received.
I refunded his payment, mailed a second one to him, but he is still not satisfied.
threatening leaving negative feedback.

What can I do, as you can image, I don't have a tracking number for a 0.99 free shipping order.

Thanks. Really need your help.

I always recommend calling your customer in any situation, otherwise refund and hope for the best. There is no magic solution.

Hopefully you can play to the better natured person within your buyer if it exists? Try to sweet talk them if possible. But sometimes you just have to take the crap a buyer can dish out because ebay 100% empowers the buyer to behave in this manner without recourse. And buyers are and have been catching on to just what power they have within ebays system of NO checks and balances.

Wish you luck though...

You are right Theygotmetoo, that is often the best way to have a 1 - 2 - 1 chat with the buyer to sort any problems out.

The only problem is that in a minority of cases the buyer can be a complete idiot and you find that you are at best wasting your breath and time, and at worst making the issue worse and increasing the chances of them leaving negative feedback.

You only have to look around on ebay and there are some real idiots on there.

In some cases it is difficult to know whether to call them or whether to leave them well alone. I think you develop a kind of instinct to help you avoid calling the real clowns.

You could try scanning the postal receipts into your computer an sending them to him. I sometimes find I can write better grovelling apologies that what I could ever say on the phone. If you do this and are polite, apolagetic and reasoanble and they continue to be a complete pain in the a**** then there is not much else you can do.

Although I keep a box of bits and pieces and I do offer to send a FREE gift to appease the buyer. Only because I dont want them to maliciously leave a negative feedback. The impact a stupid feedback message causes is greater than me eating humble pie and going out of my way to make a difficult person happy.

Let us know how you get on.
