Inkfrog safety issue

Hi, i've been using inkfrog for a while and noticed an issue.
Inkfrog automatically adds it's own logo and link in all of your listings witch is eh.. fine, but what really bothered me is that the link is in this format:
Yes, there is a number at the end and yes it is THE SAME on all your listings from ALL of your accounts....
I've had a long discussion with their support and they were not supportive, declined it was an issue at all.
What do you think?

JamesNorth101 04-30-2013 02:04 PM

Is there no way for the reference number to be removed? Have you check other peoples listings who use InkFrog, it could be that 561524 is used on all of them (I hope so anyway as I was going to start using InkFrog soon)

If its account specific and not just generic it could be a large problem.

Where is this logo/link?

0bitus 05-01-2013 02:41 AM

I manually deleted the extra code from my listings, ill list a new one and post a screen

0bitus 05-09-2013 12:40 PM

Ok so i checked and this is still a problem here is a screen:

Please if you think this is a problem vote and comment ill be trying to convince the support staff that this is a real issue so they can fix it.
Regards

All my listings display an identical number for all accounts and different than your number. Editing listings manually is obviously defeats the purpose of inkfrog. This appears to me to be a serious problem. I will try to contact them and see if there is a way to exclude the logo as the default. I will report back based on what I hear.

Hi yes try contacting them, they would probably not remove the logo, but what they can easily do is remove the referrer number that no one needs anyway.

Did contact them. They said that logo cannot be removed. Moreover, admitted that referral ID# reveals that user is the same for different accounts, see attached conversation. Thank God ebay has not caught up to this yet. My 25 stealth accounts would be fried. Good buy Inkfrog for me.

I don't see that logo if you use a legacy template with the flash showcase widget.

smithg57 05-10-2013 10:36 AM

Someone suggested a solution for the logo not to be inserted on inkfrog's forum. Unfortunately, it did not work for me when I tried to edit a live listing or when submitted a new listing. below is the url on inkfrog's forum for details

I can see a fast reduction in inkfrog subscribers because of this. I understand they want to advertise their company, but there is no need for the referral number to be in ever listing, they could just have a link to their own page without going via referral. Shame as I was going to start to use them in the next few weeks.

and Inkfrog to try fix the problem once they loose 99% of their customers.

JamesNorth101 05-10-2013 04:00 PM

I think to be honest eBay would have caught on pretty fast regardless. Would just take one of the thousands of employees to raise the issue and it would spread like wild fire and a lot of account would go down. At least we now have warning, so big thanks go to the OP.

Hi all, this id is not a safety issue. I'm not sure why you all would think so. However, we don't use this for tracking any longer and are removing it as I type this. This should at least put everyone's minds at ease. You can also try using one of our bulk editing tools to find/replace that from your description if you wish.

Member above is claiming to be a inkfrog representative.

I did check the IP address, and they do have a location in that city, but there is no real way to confirm they are who they say they are?

Please clarify how you mean it is not a safety issue?

I just listed an item and I can confirm that the referrer ID is indeed removed. However, I would also recommend that the user should have the option to select to remove the entire inkfrog logo too. I understand that you want to promote your product but inkfrog must respect the users needs and preferences too.

danshan 05-24-2013 12:50 AM

Can you share the html code so i can look at it please

danshan 05-24-2013 03:49 PM

Seen that code looks clean I would say no linking issue. Has anyone here had a linking issue actually with inkfrog??

I also support this idea. Inkfrog, what is your opinion?
