Auctiva Commerce Store...

Maybe a small step Auctiva is taking to compete with Ebay?

I'm sure many of you received this email from Auctiva today, but for you who didn't...

Auctiva is happy to announce off-eBay stores powered by Auctiva Commerce.

Starting in January 2009, you will be able to set up an online store using Auctiva Commerce. We have the best features and prices available to help you easily build and manage your store. We know it has become increasingly difficult to make money on eBay. Creating your own online store with Auctiva Commerce is the answer.

I got a invite to use it in beta.
I just started playing with it.
It seems OK.
I will let you know as I dig into it.

Yea, this could be the thing everybody's been waiting for.

Wish I'd thought of it. Make a lot of money..buy auctiva.. make a good competitor for ebay and spend lots of money marketing

Could be ebid too but here's hoping!

I got the ad in my mailbox and they had a domain auctivacommerce.com instead of auctiva.com. I think it's because of they used auctiva.com, then eBay would have a fit.

Hi All,
I see that the new auctiva commerce storefront will be set up for use with google checkout and authorize.net. In Canada, these are not available to us unless we try to set up a U.S. bank account and address etc. Not that simple to do these days. Does anyone know if there is a way of making CCNOW or 2checkout work with this new format without having to manually email invoices? I emailed support but they referred me to the new auctiva commerce forum which I read but it does not really answer this question. It would be nice not to have to use paypal.

Well its free for three months. But I dont like the fact that they say you will be charged 8% for them to drive traffic to your store. Thats more then eBay auctions. I would think the perk of using them vs using magento, or oscommerce, or zencart, or paying to develop your own cart and then market it to SEO is the ability for auctiva to MARKET your site for you, just like eHay does.

Pricing That Works For Everyone

This pricing model benefits sellers of all sizes. A small monthly fee coupled with sales fees based on monthly sales is flexible enough to accomodate everyone.

Plus a monthly sales fee:Monthly Sales Fee %
$0 - $200 free
$200.01 - $500 5%
$500.01 - $1000 3%
$1000.01 - $50,000 1.5%
$50,000.01 - $100,000 0.75%
$100,000.01+ 0.5%

*Maximum number of items you can have listed: 50,000.

**You will have the option of having us advertise on your behalf to drive traffic to your store. When this results in a sale we expect the fee would be about 8%. We will announce the full details once they've been finalized.

They prohibit the same products eBay does, if not more so (for example, no OEM or bundled software). Their CEO gives the same reasons eBay does: to limit Auctiva's liability. I have no idea how rigidly they enforce.

Yea they send you the email right after your account gets limited - LOL

I doubt it will become an eBay competitor tho = maby another ecrater - stores flouting it cyber space - but charging 8% is just wrong!!!

eBanza.com NO LISTING FEES!!! NO EVIL!!!

BuyItSellit is a free online store builder. Build your own eCommerce enabled store.

Not sure how many of you have heard of BISI but I Love it and it is soo easy not to mention probably the cheapest alternative.

JohnnyBeGoode 04-09-2009 12:43 AM

BuyItSellit looks interesting, about the same as Auctiva Commerce but without taking a percentage of the sale. However, they have the same Prohibited Items as eBay and Auctiva Commerce. I think they all work off the same list. Is there any hosting service that doesn't dictate what you can sell?

HWGA - Hows it going with your Auctiva commerce store?

Realistically, I think that they are the only upcoming competition with eBay unless Google comes out with something. They are likely to be big like eBay, plus you are able to list your own website on there as your store - nice.

They need to change the appearance of their search results listings though.
I look forward to Auctiva.
