New Gmail App Update on iOS 07/11/2016 Display All External Images

Hey guys,

If you own a iPhone, a new update for the GMAIL app have been released.

It is display external images even if the settings of the email account is set to turn off. I have over 4 accounts attached to GMAIL app, after the update, all 4 of them showed images.

Is anyone experiencing this? I have posted a topic regarding this but have not received any replies.

I've been getting that too!

Only just realised today, not used it in a while, normally I just logon to a computer.

Has anyone figured out how to resolve this?

If this links accounts, I'm truly toast :/

I've got android so not sure what's changed exactly, but try this:
  • Head over to GMAIL app
  • Click menu (3 bars top left)
  • Settings
  • Select an individual email account i.e. Aspkin@Gmail.com
  • Click images right at the bottom
  • Select ask before showing
  • Then do that for all inidividual email accounts (if that option still exists for iPhone users).

If it doesn't fix it, then its unlikely going to be a problem. Have a read here though, something a posted a few weeks back: http://www.aspkin.com/forums/subscri...tml#post809137

Hey Play I can't read the post in the link you posted. I guess because I'm not a subscribed member. Can you share it here?

Any updates on this new issue? I am wondering if I need to purchase an Android phone just to easily answer my emails?

Here's a copy of the post:

I was just reading Google's support site and thought I'd share an excerpt I found.
So let's say your logged into GMAIL and forgot to set external images off and started reading ebay messages. Worry not. Read below to find out why.

N.B. Always remember, it's better to be safe than sorry, so ensure you turn off external images.

How Gmail helps make images safe

To help load images safely, images go through Google's image proxy servers and are transcoded before they're delivered.

This makes images safer because:

Senders can’t use image loading to get information like your IP address or location.
Senders can’t use the image to set or read cookies in your browser.

Gmail checks the images for known viruses or malware.

In some cases, senders may be able to know whether you've opened an email that has an image attached to a unique link. Gmail scans every message for suspicious content, and if Gmail considers a sender or message potentially suspicious, images won’t be shown and you’ll be asked whether you want to see the images.

Just from my personal experience, if you're newish to the site, you should know there's a whole section of even better/more info for subscribed members. Not as a sales pitch, because it makes no difference to me whatsoever what you do, but in one way or another I've been on here for more than 7 years and more than 3/4 of that time I've been a subscribed member just for that "juicy stuff" section.

If you like and/or use what you find on the rest of the site, don't miss out on that too, I know how much I spend on stealth options and/or mistakes when I make them, the subscription part is nothing compared to that. If you haven't already, and find this part of the site useful, you should, at least once in your Eb/pp life, subscribe and have access to the "juicy stuff" part of the forum.

Posts like yours reminds me of how people think they are saving $ by sticking to this part of the forum, (like I did in the beginning) but as a long time member I really recommend if you like and use this part of the forum, you check it out at least once. As you can see how he did post the info here, everyone here really is all about helping people, it's not all strictly business, which is why this is the only forum or subscription I've ever consistently maintained for most of my internet life. Besides Netflix. :)
