Can ebay see my IP from hotmail? *UPDATE* REINSTATED!!
 

As above please...

The reason been i was suspended last May for 12months and i've just checked my hotmail account and they've sent me an email telling me that the card on file is due to expire etc....

I've since managed to open another account up under different details. If i was to email ebay asking for my account back would they be able to see my ip matching my live account to me asking about a suspended acc?

Yes,

If you use hotmail it is very easy to find your ip address. Just use gmail. To explain it on a easy way:If you send a mail it with gmail it will be send first to a gmail server and than the server sends the email to the receiver. With gmail it is not possible to trace the ip address from the owner. I never use hotmail.

Ebayfreak is correct. Gmail won't show your IP, not even in headers.
But beware, if you use POP3 with a gmail account, it will be there.

Anyone else can confirm this? I've been mailing everyone with pop3 from gmail accounts and I've tried finding the IP in incoming messages and never been able to.

Juicyas, That's fine to email buyers with it, you just can't email ebay or they will see your ip.

I agree just use Gmail, I say it all the time, but it's mostly because their default setup is to block tracking images... but hotmail is server based isn't it? It doesn't run off your computer so any emails sent from it are sent from hotmail's server (their IP).

Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't use hotmail is a very long time.

Hotmail emails are send from a hotmail server, but in the header it will always show the ORIGINAL IP Address. I`m not sure about POP3 with gmail, but i`m almost sure that even than they can't see your ip address. Just tested it with sending 2 emails to myself and i didn't find anything back in the Header, no ip address or anything all the info points to gmail and not me. But i can be wrong so If anybody can confirm this for me because I use POP3/Mozilla for my accounts.

**UPDATE**

Well last week i decided to email Ebay from another computer away from home (different IP) basically saying its close to my 12months period could i have my account back as its important to me etc...

Got an email last night saying that my main account with my real details is reinstated!! :) :D

Will now change my email to a gmail one and try figure out how to change my IP again as i changed it once before when opening up an account when i was suspended a year ago.

So after 12months you can still get accounts back lol
