PayPal limited - continue good ebay account

I just had a great PP/EB and the PP was permanently limited recently. (all legit info)

For all intents and purposes the ebay account is still good as they didn’t knock down the listings or anything.

I always paid EB fees with PayPal so I paid my remaining fees with the card that was associated with the PP account.

This is a power seller / top seller account with hundreds of feedback and 100% rating with good limits.

I sell a lot of used items as well as a line of lower cost new household items. (nothing high risk)

My question is why can’t I get a legit merchant account and continue the ebay account without PP?

Let me state at this point I am starting many PP/EB stealth accounts also.

I just see no reason to trash the good ebay account if I don’t have to.

What does everyone think?

I had this situation many times, and I do not stop to use that ebay account which paypal got limited, I just add another paypal account, and sometimes I can work with it with no problems at all and sometimes ebay catch me and suspends that account, you take you own risk.

Re: PayPal limited - continue good ebay account

OP - Setting up a merchant account is your only option. Attaching a new Paypal is a temporary fix and your selling days would be numbered. Paypal would quickly catch on and limit your new account, preventing you from withdrawing any money you've received.

I'm speaking from experience. I had to set up a merchant account on my main eBay account a few months ago due to a tax-related limitation on the attached Paypal. Once I had my merchant account configured I attempted adding a new Paypal also. The new Paypal was linked/limited within days and now they're keeping a large chunk of change from me.

You'll lose about 90% of your sales by switching to a merchant account. Buyers are so brainwashed into trusting Paypal exclusively that almost all of them refuse to pay any other way. But hey, it's better than just trashing the eBay account and losing all of your sales. It's a PITA setting up a merchant account but it's better than nothing!

Great @phaz0rz! Thanks.

That’s what I was wanting to hear.

And just for the shiitsngiggles I did NOT mention EVER using another PayPal account with it LOL!

Just concerned with a merchant account.

Also can't people still use their PayPal account to pay ebay through a merchant account?

I've heard that rumor also but I've yet to find a way. In my Auth.net account it will allow you to accept Paypal payments, but you have to have a business Paypal account linked to your Auth.net. Then if you do link it you aren't really processing payments through a merchant account. The way Auth.net explains it your Paypal transactions will simply start showing up in your merchant account, but they are still being processed via Paypal. Kinda useless IMO, unless you aren't already in trouble with Paypal.

I have been checking out propay. They seem to work with ebay and can accept payments from buyers using paypal.
https://www.propay.com/en-US/Affiliate/EBAYINC

The other thing I have done is create a new paypal with a new email and put that in my ebay account so I can use it.
Then I set all my items to local pick up only so they don't use paypal

My merchant account is through TSYS so if Propay will accept Paypal then I'm all for it, but I don't see mention of Paypal anywhere on Propay's website. Can you point me in the right direction?

I made a new Paypal and attached it to my eBay too. Except my stupid self used it to start receiving payments, received way too much too quickly and had the P/P account manually reviewed and linked.

What are you using the Paypal account for if you aren't receiving payments?

Re: PayPal limited - continue good ebay account

I signed up for a paypal account with a new gmail email address and ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and attached that to my listings on ebay just so I could keep the listings up until I figured out what to do. That's what a upper level customer service agent in the limitations department at fleabay advised me to do! I couldn't believe she said to do that. She said they don't care and won't check the account that if paypal checked, she wouldn't know but that on their end, they don't bother. I did what she said and my account is ok. The account on ebay is 17 years old with 5000 plus feedback. I hate to not be able to use it.

I changed all listings to 'local pick up' only. That way it eliminates the need for a paypal account for the time being.

here is the page on propay and ebay. They have a $5 sign up special right now that I am going to do tomorrow.

Re: PayPal limited - continue good ebay account

I'm thinking that linking a new/different PP account to the old EB account is a good way to get the PP account linked and limited again.

The propay/ebay deal is looking good however.

EDIT:
Does anyone have any experience with propay/ebay?

The propay site says no problem
https://epay.propay.com/ebay/
but the ebay site says
"I don't see my gateway provider listed here. Can I still accept credit cards on eBay?
You'll need to set up a payment gateway account with one of eBay's supported payment gateway providers - Payflow, Authorize.Net, or CyberSource."

EDIT:
The propay help says that the eauction accounts are no longer provided even thought the https://epay.propay.com/ebay/eauctionsignupinfo.aspx page is still active!!!

WTF???

O well.

what do you think about: do not link new pp to ebay, only add to listing to receive payment?

In the exact same situation... I unlinked the PP account and am continuing with the EB account without Paypal payments... Cannot sell overseas anymore but am still selling.
I started a stealth EB and PP account but PP got limited after a few sales, so I also purchased stealth EB and Paypal accounts, but am hesitant to start selling as they are not under my name...

I have the same question, my PayPal got a soft limitation about 6 months ago and they're asking for documents, invoices, etc but ebay is 100% good. Going to see if I can send in docs and if that doesn't work then I'll remove that PayPal from my eBay and add another and see what happens.. I'll keep you updated :)

If you can lift the limitations do it. Apparently if PP is defintely compromised, it's no use linking the EB with a new PP, link will be made by PP...
